OOC: Time to move the story ahead a little, methinks.

We just received word from our consulate in Ottawa: the US government has agreed to meet with representatives from the Convention. Not twenty minutes after the announcement President Featherston was on the air requesting - well, demanding - that we send people to Richmond as well, "in order to prevent the Yankees from poisoning their minds against us."
Nice guy, that Featherston. Very humble.
Anyway, let's get our diplomatic teams together and get moving. Since nobody else has jumped up, I'll head the group going to the US. Since Christopher doesn't want me out of his sight he'll be coming along for the ride too. This promises to be so much fun, it really does. We'll be using GCU LAIKA (NCC-104) as our baseship.
(Noah: Are any of the Graces currently available & can be pulled off rotation quickly? Laika's equipped to piggyback a shuttle, and we might earn some goodwill if they see a spacecraft with the Stars & Stripes accompanying a Convention vessel.)
As for the CSA group, I still want Rhodes to lead off (and Ben for the love of Xenu please *say* something, one way or the other) and he can pick the rest of his team.
Bob, I'm not *happy* about it - I don't *like* the idea of risking one of Fenspace's jewels in a potential conflict zone, theoretically invulnerable or no - but I agree that we're going to need to get our Commodore Perry on when it comes to the Confederates. SP GROVER'S CORNERS (GEO-25429) will act as baseship for the CSA delegation. Make it flashy. Just for fuck's sake be *careful*, alright?
Both basecraft have full Interwave relay capability and a full holopresence suite, so nobody in the main groups will miss the Convention.
Let's get our people assembled and on the ground. Time's a-wasting.

Subj: Your mission, should you choose to accept it
Ben, got a side job for you if you decide to take the CSA diplomatic mission.
I don't expect that the Richmond mission will be long or frutiful, so on your way back I want you to ditch the Corners and hit Salt Lake City. Find somebody who's got some sort of (non-US) authority over the locals and bring them back to Odyssey. The Mormons are, if not key, then at least one ace I want to remove from Featherston's sleeve. Plus any and all data you can suck up on an overflight of the CSA will be of great value.
Naturally, if you or any of your people should be captured, etc. Not that this is likely to happen, mind you, but still.
