If the information in the books is even 50% accurate, that's not in the cards. We'd have to be literal Giant Lizards From Another Star, show up in force & nuke their cities on a daily basis in order for the United and Confederate States to even *think* of joining forces.

We're going to be weird and alien to them, no question. But the USA and CSA hate each other with a ferocity that we don't see much of in our world. The closest I can think of would be Israel v. Rest Of The Middle East, but even *there* the hatred's been tempered by wisdom, or at least pragmatism.
