I especially liked those Fen getting their camera zorched for not realizing "hey, maybe theres a REASON you were told not to stick it there". That and the press conference, with all the reporters who didnt 'get it'

Indeed.  Except for Ben.  He took one look at the figures and decided to put a distant observation on the scene knowing someone would get a camera vaped.  He's used to power outputs like that because Midnight has a tendency to leave some spectacular looking drive plumes in her wake.  (S'why he waits until he's clear out into the open before he allows Midnight to hit full power for lift-offs.)
