As soon as the Boskone war starts officially (with SOScon and OGJ) people WILL care... and thats 2012.

At that point, Spot is only trackable once a month, and moving somewhat randomly (as only a puppy can). His presence on the net will be more visible by then.
Actually, the onemoment where he will be the easiest tospot will be on April 30th, as he'll be escaping earth for the second time and triggering air defences everywhere in Northern America. (That is also when he'll find out about the quirks on his jammer.)
