Specifically, I’d offer a service cleaning up landfills and other such places for a price. Since the Government of Canada had once given a 52 million dollar contract for cleaning up a single site (I’d checked on the internet), I was pretty sure to run a profit at the very least. And Spot hadn’t gotten any issue with his morning meal, which at least contained two used car batteries.

Either we're thinking of two different sites, or you've severely underestimated the contract.
But if that's the only thing I can find to criticize in the story so far, then it's a good story.

The government plan is for 400 millions, true, but the contract to Nordlys Environmental LP and ECC is for 52 millions
