Now I'm imagining him communicating like Celty Sturlsson in 'Durarara!'.

Writing out messages on a pager and holding it up to his vic - er, conversation partners.

He
uses a headset holo projector and a wrist computer for a 'chat bubble'.
Thou I'm now pondering Wile E. Coyote type signs that are actually a
small hand held holo projector built to look like a sign stick.

*snicker* Bubble Talk?

So a speaking bubble pops up over his head when he talks? Complete with typing sounds and movements like in Second Life?

Not really, just what he types on the wrist computer appears in a hologram box above and in front of his head when trying to communicate with people. Projected from a headset he wears, this is only when he doesn't care that other people see it around him.
