I suspect the nerve linkages required for decent medical-grade cybernetics are going to be one of our big early exports to daneside, as soon as that tech is figured out. It's the sort of thing I can see somebody like AC or The Professor trying to patent before the TSAB beats them to it.

Getting a worldwide patent on something is expensive and depends on a lot of lawyers. Better open source the basics, so that no one can patent it anymore if you fear that the TSAB will be close to cracking it.
