If you're wondering why this changed...

I'd re-used the woman's name 'Emily'. This is a bad idea and leads to confused readers. 'Emily', Uncle Jack's companion, is now 'Ellen'. Maybe this is short for 'Eleanor'? It's not short for 'Hellen'.
