Actually... her name came about solely because I remembered reading that Hayate translates to 'Gale' and thought it'd be a funny backdoor reference. Now that I went to check it, I can't find where it was.... I can change it if you'd like. Or at least the spelling.
Their builder intended them to be merciless attack robots. Unfortunately for their builder... they weren't robots but living, thinking people, capable of growing and evolving beyond their initial conditioning. The same conditioning and codes that made them subservient, also sowed the seeds of their rebellion. They're alive and intelligent... and that makes them infinitely more complex and frighteningly capable of change. Something their builder didn't realise until it was too late.
Ultimately, everything created to control them, freed them.
