Quote:"So, are you going to tell Dad about your upgrades?"--
Sora looked straight at her sister. "Does he need to know?"
"I guess not. I'll pass on them, though - one bad explosion and they'd be ruined."
Sora smiled at that, and not just because that was pure Kohran. She wouldn't have to ask Dee whether she could share top-secret Soviet tech with outsiders.
As she was considering what to say next, the door to Meg's opened, and Noah walked in and over. "Welcome back, sweetie," he said to Sora without sitting down. "You know you could have come in through the private airlock; you're still welcome in the Old Ring."
"Hi, Dad. You know I don't want special treatment."
"It isn't special treatment - you're family. I can't stay - I have to go sign a contract with the shipwrights at Bristol - but I couldn't just ignore my eldest daughter, now could I?" (Sora smiled at that. As happy as she was with Mal and the other Soviets, it still felt good to have another place to come home to. Even if she never planned on coming back.) "Now I really do have to go. I'm sorry I can't catch up with you the way we should." Noah turned to leave, then turned back. "I like what you've done with yourself. 'Bye."
Kohran blinked. "I'm surprised he noticed."
Sora shook her head. "Of course he noticed. I'm his favorite, remember?"
"Second-favorite. Helen's his number-one girl now."
"Oh, good!"
