Gee, didn't see THIS revelation coming

Not surprised at all. State abuse of power is a very old story and both parties are very hypocritical about it. I'm very much a believer that state power should be limited as much as possible. I can recall Democrats being very vocal about that when Bush fils was president and as soon as Obama was in going silent. Instapundit had a long series of posts titled I was told if I voted for McCain that "this would happen..."
@Blackareonaut:Light observation. Given that some of the more controversial sheriffs keep getting reelected in Arizona. I'm not so sure they are going to raise hell with them. Also given how nasty the cartels are getting in Mexico and Northern Central America my feeling is that the borer security issue is going to get pretty hot particularity with the entire immigration reform issue. (Side note speaking as somebody who grew up Latin America reform is needed but I do think that given how restrictive certain Latin American countries are about immigration there is a certain hipocrecia from some of the governments pushing it. Mexico being a classic example)

My mom's brief take on upcoming Guatemalan Elections "In last throes of preelection activities. Much loudspeaker vote pleading."
