Or at least, all the hostile-government related scenarios I've heard of were not dependent on whether or not any members of the federal government had been thrown into an oubliette, just on what things were being done on a local level.
Also, has no one ever voted against a sitting president of their party before? Yeah, a sitting president has an advantage here, but it doesn't mean they've all been replaced with Trump-bots.
