Excellent. I'm reading this story to Peggy right now, and I'm glad I have an ending to give her when next we sit down to it. I haven't read the new material yet, so I can't give you any comments on the ending, but I do want to note that "if'n" is a construction that I find very unlikely for a film noir detective -- I associate it much more with folks from the Deep South. Other than that, Gil's voice is great -- and, I might add, a delight to read to Peggy. It's just a lot of fun to do that raspy, seen-it-all world-weary voice -- and then contrast it with Alistair's clipped, formal British.
