The idea of a lose collaboration of supervillains, all playing each other for their own ends does mesh very well with what I remember.
Clank manly uses her membership in the legendary as a means to help the next generation of villains. After all, refusing the assistance of some random villain can easily be done. But refusing the help of a member in high standing of your supergroup? That's playing for higher stakes.
* Helping in this case can be read as: Assistance in some small way (a mission or two, perhaps some credits), that can be later called in when they are significantly more powerful. After all, it is much better to be owed favors then to owe them.
With the introduction of larger threats (RWZ & Cim) she has even started to experiment with helping heroes.
