Tales of the Legendary: Purrfect Friends

#9
Frostfire sighed, closed his laptop and handed it to one of his minions (who promptly ran out through a back door), then stood up and looked towards the main
entrance to his current inner sanctum. It sounded like there was yet another group of heroes tracking him down, as part of the 'hero training' he'd
come to despise over the years.

Honestly, it was insulting. Sure, the Outcasts weren't the biggest, toughest gang around, but he'd like to think he could get a little more respect
from the heros then this. Were they really that spiteful to someone that had once dreamed of being accepted as one of them? A hero, damned by the courts and
public for merely trying to help?

Time, it seemed, had not been kind to Frostfires memories of his 'fall from grace'.

As he cursed his life yet again, a Freezer was thrown through the glass doors, landing on a patch of ice and sliding across the room, coming to a halt by his
leaders feet. Frostfire scowled, then looked up to see the two catgirls entering. "What the hell? Is there a catgirl plague or something lately?"

"Actually, yes," Purrfect Shadow quipped. "Have you had your shots?" Knight laughed as Frostfire blinked, then a pair of Bricks tried to
flank the pair, and the fight started. Things got confusing fast as the two catgirls split up, throwing themselves from brawl to brawl and generally letting
the Outcasts crash into each other.

As she ducked, weaved and clawed, Robin began to note that not only was she wonderfully agile now, but she seemed more durable then she would have expected.
Her light body armor seemed to be holding up as well as, if not better then, the advanced powered armor Miranda had built for her after the Sky Raider incident
the previous year. She made a note to look into that... after she dealt with the current problem. The current problem being a swarm of fire imps that Frostfire
had summoned and sent after her.

Growling, she sliced one in half, stabbed another and kicked the third one away, then ducked under an ice club and slashed at an Outcast, spraying blood
everywhere. The growl shifted into a snarl at the smell of blood as she charged on. She wasn't killing them, but without really noticing, she'd begun
to class them as prey, and wasn't being gentle anymore. The blood, the adrenaline surging through her... Now, more then ever, she felt alive.

Kneecapping another ganger, she got a clear line of sight on Frostfire, and had to stop and stare at the sight of Purrfect Shadow using a Shockers shoulders as
a launch platform to throw herself at Frostfire. The Outcasts founder made a surprised noise, summoning flames to his hands, only to have the catgirl tackle
him, and bury her claws in his shoulders.

Listening to his surprised, pained scream, Knight was smacked in the chest by a baseball bat, drawing a pained yelp from her. Gasping, she looked at the
Outcast, who was looking at her chest with a confused expression. "That should've hurt you more," he said.

"You wear a cup?" Knight asked. He nodded. "Same principle," she said, punching him in the face. "Jerk. Don't see me going around
hitting people in the privates," she scowled at him as he dropped, clutching at his nose.

"You crazy furball," Frostfire gasped from where he'd dropped to his knees. "You're freaking crazy!" Angie rolled her eyes, placing
her hands on his shoulders and letting the mist ripple off her hands and into his wounds, working as simple bandages.

"You'll be in a prison regeneration tube in a few minutes, tops," Robin snorted. "Here's an idea. If you're sick of being beat up by
heroes every time you break out of prison, stop breaking out of prison."

"That's crazy talk!" Angie laughed.

"It's not that-"

"-simple, yes, we all know your little motto," Robin said, slapping the teleport cuffs on him. She pressed the button and he vanished.

"So, that was Frostfire," Angie mused. "I'd heard he was kind of..." she paused, looking for the right word. "...an idiot,"
she finished.

Robin laughed, nodding. "Yeah, I've never met anyone else so stubborn about being wrong before."

The younger catgirl grinned, stretching. "So, we've taken down Frosty the Outcast, and it's only two in the afternoon. What else shall we do with
our day?" In response, Robin smiled, tail dancing in amusement.

Angie adjusted the straps on her bikini and stretched out on the deck chair. "You're a genius," she said, picking up her straw hat and putting it
back on, before giving Robin another demonstration of the simple spell 'Summon fruity drink with little umbrella.'

The black-furred catgirl replied with a soft giggle. "Oh, I do have my moments," she said, taking the drink from Angie and lying back on her own
chair. A bit more careful searching this time had provided them with a rooftop not too far from the War Wall, the wind blowing down into the Hollows and thus
defeating most of the stench.

She smiled lightly, sipping at her drink. "Well, this answered something I've been wondering about all week," she said. Her friend gave her a
curious look. "Oh, I was wondering if I should maybe make another hero identidy while like this," she shrugged. "So if I end up being changed
back, I don't have a very... unusual incident attached to my name and reputation."

"You figure people might react poorly to a man turned into a catgirl?" Angie said.

"I know they will," she sighed. "But you know what? To hell with them. I'm handling this just fine, I can live with it if it turns out to be
permenant, and I'll be damned if I run and hide over it."

Angie nodded, a soft smile appearing on her face. "Brave. Daring... could bring trouble."

"I'm a superhero. That'll happen anyway." Angie nodded in agreement, and the pair fell silent, merely enjoying the sun. Robins smile widened.
This day had been just what she needed.
