I've just finished a re-read myself, and I dunno, Ops, I think you're misinterpreting.  I see it as more of a thing where they're just at the beginning of a relationship -- whether that turns out to be hot-n-heavy romance or kinky friends-with-benefits or god-knows-what, is up for debate at the moment.  Certainly I don't know exactly where it'll end up.  Sweno doesn't tell me everything
