Well, that depends a lot on what's framing it; that said, I don't actually think I would have taken it in a really different direction unless the story ended up radically different from what I'm currently envisioning. As for minor editing changes, well... "heavily-tied-up" is clumsy, I'd reword that clause. But that's about it. I like "Caped Wonder", that's very Doug. (Do I really have him nicknaming people that much?)
And an idea: A redeemed Dark General might make a good choice for the kind of intelligence assets in the Kingdom that Doug would be desperately desiring by that point...
