Song of the Day, March 22, 2017

Awwwww heelllll yiiissss.... The Album Version with that ever so awesome LOOOONNNNG intro. And it HAS to be the original album version, otherwise you'll never hear that bit about him coming home to an empty pad and begin to contemplate suicide in that hung-over malaise.

Bob, you would love the rest of the album, Exile on Coldharbour Lane: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exile_on_Coldharbour_Lane

The first two tracks, Converted, and The Speed of the Sound of Loneliness are a great prelude to Woke Up This Morning, and even Converted all on it's own would be a great track for your story. (BTW, The Speed of the Sound of Loneliness has a trailing bit that actually DOES prelude Woke Up This Morning. Check it out!)

You gotta ask yourself this question. Can a man who has fought in the jungles with I.V. Lenin against the running dog capitalist pigs sleeping in a hut so lowly that the rats were as hunchback be my redeemer? And gotta say well maybe yes and maybe no, but I know that I gotta go somewhere, and that somewhere might well be church.

Forty days you've been tired and tempted,
Forty nights you've been out in the cold,
Every phone line conversation's been intercepted,
And you can't reconnect 'cos the frequency is closed.

So many miles you've been out of direction,
So many signs but you ain't got nowhere to go.
Your Cadillac's got it's headlights disconnected,
Rolling your wheels down the wrong side of the road.

Can you see them now
Can you see them now
Can you see the sisters swinging?

Let's go back to church,
Let's go back to church,
So damn long since we sung the song,
Let's go back to church.

Let's go back to church,
Let's go back to church,
Anyday now, anyway anyhow,
Let's go back to church.

You drank the wine but it tastes like water.
You broke the bread but it had turned to stone.
Your sacrament it lay scattered on the pavement
The covenants you kept have all been stolen and sold.

You can see them now
Yeah you can see them now
You can see the sisters swinging yeah
I know it now
Yeah you can hear them now
Yeah you can hear them now
You can hear the brothers singing yeah

Let's go back to church
Let's go back to church
It's been so damn long since we've sung this song
Let's go back to church

Let's go back to church
Let's go back to church
Any day now, any way, any how
Let's go back to church

Right back!

Right back!

Yeah, 'cause I'm down with the street angels on this one, preacher

I ain't goin' away, no way
Church is where I'm gonna stay
Every time I come to church I feel a glow, alive, resuscitated
Ain't no fear, I chase all my blues away, right here in church
Yes sir

Gonna lift up my soul to the sunshine

Yeah, the lights in Heaven are gonna shine I'll feel so fine!

People get ready!
There's a train a-comin!

Everybody gotta run sometime now

I come home late, come home early
Come home big when I'm feelin' small
Come home straight, come home fucked up
Sometimes I don't come home at all

What in the world has come over me?
What in heaven's name have I done?
I've broken the speed of the sound of loneliness
I'm out there runnin' just to be on the run

You’ve got a heart that burns with a fever
You’ve got a worried and a jealous mind
So how can a love that lasts forever
Leave me so damn far behind?

Tell me now

What in the world has come over me?
What in heaven's name have I done?
I've broken the speed of the sound of loneliness
I'm out there runnin' just to be on the run

It’s a mighty mean and a dreadful sorrow
Crossed that evil line today
I can't think about tomorrow
'Cause I ain't got a word to say

So tell me now

What in the world has come over me?
What in heaven's name have I done?
I've broken the speed of the sound of loneliness
I'm out there runnin' just to be on the run

Just to be on the run
Just to be on the run
Lord above I'm out there just to be on the run

Sweet goddamn pretty motherfucking Country-Acid-House music all night long. Hank Williams on the jukebox, Jack Daniels in your hand. You ain't never going home. 'Cause D. Wayne Love, he owns your soul and the barman owns your coat. Your lady owns your key. And the only goddamn thing you own is a guilty conscience. But who'd give a fuck when lights are low? The ladies are real, real hard. And the whiskey flows like the crystal streams they say flow in heaven. And a choir sings as you sink deeper down, deep, deep, deeper down into the comfort of your own narcolepsy.

And in the album there's a soundbyte of Our Boys out barhopping, we get blasted by the bar music, and then we got that epic intro for the next track. Big Grin
