*chuckle* Four and a half minutes. Not long, I'll admit...but yes, it should make a lovely distraction. Especially if you can mix them for the confusion value. I think any enemy seeing a horde of Roman legionnaires, Bedouin, and WWI British Tommies might be distracted for at least a few seconds, no matter how collected they normally are.
Then there's the 'clear away the cannon fodder minions' value. A large army of sword-wielding or spear-wielding simulacrums should be able to clear away lower-level minions and crunchies quite nicely - leaving the big bads for Doug and anyone with him.

There are more formal 'monument' inscriptions, but I understand that there's a lot of the 'Kilroy was here' variety as well, from the myriad of soldiers who've passed along the river in the past few thousand years.
