It's John Lennon's birthday today, and my local radio station (WFUV 90.7, for New York area readers) is doing a tribute to him. So of course I started thinking about Doug.

Two songs that come to mind -- "Imagine" might be nasty against deities, nationalists, or the greedy.

And "Back in the U.S.S.R." -- in a world where the U.S.S.R. still exists, it might just be a "teleport to location" song.

But without it -- imposing Communism locally, for the duration of the song?

What would that mean, exactly? Suddenly there are lines for toilet paper and any apartments within the area of effect gain a dozen extra inhabitants?
