One question -- I've never watched Princess Nine and am unlikely to; what course of events had Doug disrupted?

He hasn't disrupted anything shown in the series - the story's set just after the end of the anime.
The story of Yuki's life is as shown in the anime; her being the suicidal sort is not something I made up. All Doug's done is given an insecure teenager a reason to not kill herself.
