Quote:Katz would rather focus on locating a power source large enough to let him continue on his merry way ...
Seriously? Katz or Emi there would result in a display of the Historical Dialectic, or at least the part from Feudalism to something more palatable. (At the least, Constitutional Monarchy from Emi, with a strong House of Commons, if not a Federal Republic.)
... *snicker* after blasting his way out of the Academy he's contacted by (and nearly offs) Fouquet and informed of a powerful item that may be able to aid him in moving on. They hatch a scheme and steal the Staff of Destruction ... boy, is he ever disappointed when he cracks the box open. And annoyed at his so called partner in crime.
After that bit of embarassment, he tries to find out more through actually legal channels - after turning Fouquet in and pretending Louise managed to convince her 'familiar' (grr) to return. It doesn't go all that well. Nope. Doesn't go well at all. Though he does end up 'motivating' Louise to improve - by annoying the hell out of her - and giving her some seemingly bogus advice. Nobody's more surprised than he when it turns out that she can make it _work_ ... make what work? He fed her some 'hokey' incantations. Two words "Exploder Wizardess".
