It's a good thing that the Forum Pervert is back, because...

Yes, manomano's been busy while Mark's been gone.
Now I have to decide whether to install the Millennium Preteens or run the outfit through Crossdresser...
Edit:
Another freebie - a magnifying glass that actually magnifies. And, while it's optimized for Reality renders, Bruno reports it works in at least one of the native Daz Studio render engines too.

Platinum Club members, it's club anniversary time... You have to be a club member and signed in at Daz3D to follow these links.
Free this week (only) to PC members (only): Carnival Picnic Tables. Next week, it'll be $12.95.
Round One of the "what goes on sale to PC members this year" poll is open. Don't bother voting for the DAZ 3D Really Bad Bundle - yes, it's $100 worth of product; yes, that would be a good bargain at $2; but it already has more votes than the next four most popular items put together, so it's likely to go on sale anyway. (I don't have Historical Armor for V4, and as of this posting it only needs one more vote to break the four-way tie and get into the top 9, so if you already have everything you want on the list... wink, wink, nudge, nudge)

Asking a favour...
I made a list of all the free musical instruments and related items for Poser that I knew about and posted it to this month's freebie challenge (the theme is "Music and Monsters"). At least one of the folks in charge at the Daz forums want to make it the semi-official list of such models... so if you know of any free music-related models that aren't on the list, please let me know about them so I can add them to the list. (I really don't like incomplete lists.)
http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?p=3106686
Edit: Scratch the "want to" part of the above - this is now the recognized reference list. (So now I "have to" maintain it, since it has my name on it...)

Another reason to be a Platinum Club member: October freebies. This week, and forever: Rosy Shoes for V4/A4/G4/S4 by Propschick.

I created a second semi-official freebie list, and this one's a lot bigger.

I just posted this over on the Daz3D forums, in the thread about the full version of Daz Studio 3 Advanced being included on various UK magazines' cover DVDs. They usually sell for slightly under $20 an issue in Canada, which is much less expensive than buying the software directly from Daz3D.
Ascania Wrote:Now before you start running to your nearest newsagent finish reading this.
The program is given away on the disc included with 3D World #149
Together with Epsilon for M4 and Generic SciFi Corridor.
The magazine's issue has just been delivered to subscribers here in the UK, so you might have a bit of a wait before you if you're living in the US. Enough time to find the one perfect retailer that will actually stock it. I know of three in Ottawa.
I already have the Generic Sci-Fi Corridor, and I'm not sure I want Epsilon...
DaveyW Wrote:The October issue of Digital Arts also has DAZ Studio 3 Advanced and is in newsagents in the UK now (if you can find it).
It also comes with the Aiko 4 Starter Pack
...but the Aiko 4 Starter Pack is quite the giveaway. Problem is, I don't know whether Digital Arts is available anywhere in Ottawa.
Reggie68 Wrote:Must be DS3A give away month, also free with 3DArtist Issue 34. Comes with The Cloister and Darona
3D Artist definitely is available in Ottawa. The Cloister is a Platinum Club $1.99 item, though, and I'm not thrilled by Darona.
So... must start looking for Digital Arts...

Studio 3 comes with a basic version of Victoria 4.2, and you can download the male character Michael 4 for free, so choose the magazine by which add-on you want.
The Aiko bundle is the best bang for your buck, IMHO - it has face morphs, hair, and clothing for Aiko which are also usable on Victoria. (Aiko4 is an add-on for Victoria4, hence the ease of using one's resources with the other.) On the flip side, the Generic SciFi Corridor and The Cloister are settings/backgrounds, and Daz Studio doesn't come with one of those...
Meh. There are plenty of freebies - clothes, hair, backgrounds, and more - on ShareCG.com and elsewhere.

OK, I've found Digital Arts here. http://www.digitalartsonline.co.uk/magazine/
Turns out it is available online... I paid US $5.20 for the issue. You have to install their (UNPRINTABLE) Adobe AIR based reader software to actually read the issue to get the serial code. And they have a page at http://www.digitalartsonline.co.uk/downloads/ that you can download the software installers.
Everything's already installed. I have yet to seriously test, though. And it's clear I need to start acquiring V4/A4 clothes stat.

What, you don't like the purple bikini?
I have three "go-to" items in my V4A4 wardrobe - the Bodysuit (purchase %[link=http://www.daz3d.com/i/shop/itemdetails/?item=4829]here]), Courageous (purchase %[link=http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/courageous-for-v4?item=6769]here]), and Galadriel (see the first post in this thread for download links). Not that those are the only clothes I have for her, but with those and the various free texture packages for them on http://www.sharecg.com]ShareCG, you can make Viki and Aiko look marvelous in almost any setting.
If you can't wait the day for your ShareCG account to activate, %[link=http://mamomamo.candypop.jp/Freestuff/CCP002.html]go loot this page] (and grab %[link=http://blog.goo.ne.jp/mamomamo_2007/d/20111005]this outfit] that hasn't made it to that page yet, while you're at it). These, like almost all content, will be delivered in zip files - unzip them with the file structure intact, then copy (on a PC) or merge (on a Mac) that file structure to the Runtime folder in wherever you put your Content directory.
(You probably want some hair for them, too. Once you've got your ShareCG account working, http://www.sharecg.com/pf/full_uploads. ... e=mylochka]start here. Once you've got that area cleaned out, head over to %[link=http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=94410]the big list]... Don't get "stranded hair" - that's a Poser thing that doesn't work in Daz Studio.)

Well, the less than amusing thing is the installers were teases. I got a "V4 Unimesh Catsuit Fit" cr2, but it's dependent upon purchasing the bodysuit in order to use it.
I've heard of Courageous, it's a bit of a "go to" item for making Starfleet uniforms.
I've already got a ShareCG account, and believe me, I've been slurping things down to install.

PROTIP: Archive your downloads from ShareCG. Sometimes the creators of the items remove them from circulation, so you'll need your local backup of the file if you need to restore after a drive failure.

Yeah, I do need to backup my Runtime this week, given that reminder. I've deleted a handful of things in the past, and then regretted deleting one freebie that had disappeared between my installing it, and wanting it again.
Oh, and DAZ has a new freebie for this week. I'll let the link name speak for itself.

Something else to buy: a Platinum Club membership.
http://www.daz3d.com/i/platinum/0
(Now is a good time to join - they're in the middle of the anniversary celebrations, and some very expensive bundles are going on sale on the weekends. Last weekend, I got over $300 worth of content for $11...)
Edit: I think the annual membership is still on sale for $69.99 - the $6 voucher you get each month means you actually make money on the deal if you buy it now. And I just noticed this: Valiant (Michael's equivalent to Courageous) is $13.75 until next Tuesday, or 99 cents if you have a Platinum Club membership.
More places to loot... er, download freebies from:
RenderCandy's free stuff, because not everyone is white.

EvilInnocence: plenty of clothing, and a few other goodies.

Morphography downloads - home to Scott Ayers' dinosaurs (why pay when these good ones are available for free) and Catamaran's fantasy vehicles and sci-fi creatures, amongst many other good models.

Well, picked up Courageous tonight, but haven't had a chance to mess with it, I had a guest over for dinner and video games.
I've been thinking of reupping for Platinum, I had it at one point, because they were having some killer deals on software, like Hexagon and Cararra, but decided against continuing to renew it, especially when I dropped out of doing the 3d stuff for a while.
I did check, though. If they were having a sale price for the yearly membership, it's done now. I'll have to think about it, at least on a monthly basis, but I have convention coming up this weekend.

It's essentially on sale...
