In the vein of more female versions of Blaise...
this Blaise is a Slytherin and proud of it. She's also Harry Potter's girlfriend -- except no one else knows. And the Order is very interested in what her exact relationship to Harry is.

A new Ranma vs. Pluto fanfic
10-28-2005, 08:12 PM
There is a new Ranma in a sailor suit fanfic called "The Best of Times".
By Ozzallos
It's mostly a comedy.
One warning it has a K+ rating, but deserves a Mature rating especially in the later chapters.

And now, a Naruto-fic that's just beyond strange, set in some nebulous period between the Wave Country mission and the Chuunin Exam. Shichinin no Sakura: Seven of Team Seven. Thanks to a handful of bored gods, Sakura finds a magical amulet that splits her into seven copies. Hi jinx ensue.

Sangelide has a coupole of interesting Naruto and HP/Naruto fics - Trial and Error is a pre-canon piece about Naruto's Academy days, while in Reclaiming Life the similarities between the Harry Potter and (Sasuke centered) Naruto are explored, by means of Team 7 suddenly remmebering their past lives as the Golden Trio. This does give Sasuke a slight powerup in the ability to do fairly minor wandless magic - about equivalent to Fourth Year in HP canon with wands - and animagus transformations for him and Sakura - Naruto's being messed up by being a jinkuuriki - but mainly boosts their teamwork, tactical skills, and to an extent general emotional maturity. I say all this up front so as to give some adjustment time to accept that as a fouding premise, because the actual fic kind of jumps right in to get to the resuklts of the changes. Despite this, it is entertaining, once you get past the smile-and-nod setup.

A Second Chance at Life

Okay, the title's not great, but in a way this story reminds me of Mastermind Hunting but much better. The mind thing was going a bit overboard in MH.
I like how although Harry's powerful, his power is not uber-powerful relative to his peers and there are stronger people out there. I also like how the author has managed to develop a whole world outside of England. The characters are well developed, the scenery is fabulous, and the power politics between various races are rather brilliant, imo. The fight scenes are always a pleasure and the dialogue isn't bad either. It's also one of the few good divergences from the end of HBP rather than GOF or OOTP.

I *entirely* disagree. That fic is *awful*, kage. It would be better if he completely dropped any HP references - it's essentially an original work, it doesn't need the HP.
Of course, that's like saying horse dung is better than cow - it's still CRAP.--

I'll grant that, until he gets through Harry's time at the new school and back to dealing with Voldilocks and the Death Munchers it's got little to do with HPdom aside form the use of wands for spells - and that only occasional - but it seems about average fanfic level writing otherwise. What do you hate so much about it? Compressing time so far with the Room of Requirement was kind of pushing it, but otherwise it's a less-super-than-some Harry doing his initial super-Harry studies.

Well, he's got the gravity-defying black hair... and really, what is the problem with an time-compressed extradimensional space for Intensive Special Training? It at least gives some kind of rational explanation for how a character can even up/top a contest of whose fu is best, no more contrived than finding some special potion or ancient training method that makes it more effective to train in normal time.

I did a quick search and didn't find anything, so I'm assuming that it hasn't been recommend before.
Fannon Fodder has a new chapter out. Past chapters can be found here.
It does a wonderful job of confronting some of the most egregious issues fantom has, and at the same time keeping the humor up.
where else are you going to find Xander and Honey Suckle (My little pony anyone?) "fighting" Jean-Luc Picard?-Terry

1) The ludicrous fake name. *Rolls eyes*
2) I'm all for Super-Harry, but you've got to be kidding me.
3) Again, what does this have to do with Harry Potter anyway? Take out the initial training-in-the-RoR bit and you've got a fairly badly written original work.

Aww... I quite liked it.
The name -- sounds like an RP name but that's not that bad.
The plot isn't more ludicrous or less ludicrous than all the ones with the trunk being one day in = one minute out or the timetravel back to Maruader days or Founders days.
Granted it doesn't deal so much with Harry Potter *yet* -- but by ch. 24, the worlds are heading on a trainwreck towards each other. I'm thinking it won't necessarily be an OOTP v. Voldemort v. Ministry as it will be a Ministry v. Voldemort and minor non-human v. Harry and Older Vampires (with maybe v. muggles or with muggles as a fourth power depending on how much power the Older Vampires have managed to secure in muggle society) maybe even converging into Voldemort, wreck of Ministry, wizards v. non-humans, muggles, and Harry. Also, that's some fairly heavy foreshadowing of Neville at the end of 24 becoming more and more important in the plot line and attending the school with the possibility of Ginny. Plus Regulus is being pulled in, Snape and assorted Death Eaters are doing *something* with the yeck fur, the hunt for Mundugus and the errant horcruxes... I'd say there's plenty not including the foreshadowing of the Veela being pulled in (Fleur and Beuxbatons). The first what 18 chapters or so are very non-HP related but the story's picking up.
