Crossovers That Should Not Be XIII: The Horrors, The Horrors...
Nightmare Fuel
So, I was doing some mental doodling along the lines of what would work as the Ponies' "dark reflections," from a biological standpoint as well as thematic... and it hit me.  Truly, a CTSNB:

Pony-Kzin Wars.

Herbivores vs vicious carnivores.
The Power of Friendship vs the Power of Martial Culture.
The Kzin's belief in "how much intelligence does it take to stalk a leaf" meets Twilight Sparkle's Awesomeness By Analysis.
"Scream and Leap" vs "20% cooler."
Of course, the real madness begins when the Kzin discover too late the Pinkiness is contagious, via... direct ingestion of Pie (don't worry, she got better).

I keep temporarily misreading the abbreviation "ZnT" as "Zero no Takkyuubin".

I don't know if that's really a "Should Not Be", but it's certainly a bizarre juxtaposition.

So what you're suggesting is Wayne & Garth doing an on-location special episode where Wyld Stallions are playing a gig at Derpy's birthday party organized by Pinkie Pie? Duuude!

- CD, Dr. Whooves would be there as well, naturally

Does it matter?  They're EXCELLENT! (shredding guitar riff) to each other.

oh dear god, I totally forgot that band name. And now I'm surprised I haven't seen a crossover already.

... So do the Stallyns pick up two more princesses, or what? Or... maybe they turn out to be the same princesses, stuck after a time-travel mishap that de-aged one a bit until their younger selves showed up for the gig that was the beginning of the Incident! Equestria itself does seem to be based on the founding principles of excellence to each other and partying on, after all.

Hmm, given their rather ... erratic behavior I would call the wyld stallyns an earlier experiment in harmony. There are bits of laughter and loyalty in there, but clearly insufficient amounts of magic, honesty, generosity, and kindness.

The princesses appearances seem to be tied more to how much power they have rather than how old they are (and fanon tends to agree that they are older than dirt), so it could be said that equestria is not their first monarchy.

after all, equestria seems much more musically inclined/based than our current world (how often to people burst out in song?). Maybe the princesses learned something from a music based utopia?

I don't have a cute punning title for this one, I just have an awful, wonderful idea.

Some time in the middle 1990s, interstellar cop Birdy Cephon Altera chases a criminal to earth. In the course of her pursuit, she accidentally kills an earthling -- and to save him merges with his body. Unfortunately, that earthling is Shin Hayata, who already went through this once with Ultraman. So now the three of them are all packed in there, dealing with both crooks and invaders, and sometimes they get the jurisdictions mixed up...

Pick a harem anime. Any harem anime.

Now replace the girls with the Dirty Pair.

Pity the poor protagonist.

Well... basically, that puts him in Mughi's position, right? Or whatsisname, Souta? The protagonist from Tenchi Muyo GXP... or the guy from Maps, even. Though at least in Maps when they blew up the Earth, they put it back together again a little later.

I'm not sure if this a crossover that should not be, or must be...

The world in Naruto is noticeably low-tech with a few oddities here and there. This is never really touched on much, but fandom has pondered this.... and I, upon reading a forum I frequent, had a thought....

What if the reason for the low-tech is that the real tech was lost because of war ages ago. Chakra-based skills sprang up in its place, but on the average, regular tech fell behind. But... beyond the snow country, lies the secluded kingdom of Roshtaria. Rumors exist that lost tech from long ago is kept there, sealed away under the auspices of the Three Priestesses, but no one is really sure...

But now Mizuhara Makoto, chuunin diplomat, is dispatched to the north, for diplomatic talks and to investigate the rumors that missing-nin Katsuhito Jinnai was heading across the mountains into Roshtaria...

Mizuhara and his companions, the jounin Nanami, their squad leader Fujisawa and three genin from Konoha have no idea what awaits them in Roshtaria... for the Demon God stirs from its slumber....

I had a similar idea, only it involved Geist: The Sin-Eaters instead of Ultraman.  Tsutomu dies, get's offered the Bargin by a Geist, and then Birdy screws everything up with her unorthodox method of saving his life.  Throw in the fact he can see ghosts thanks to the Bargain, and Tsutomu begins to feel very harried by all the people talking to him.

Nah, that would be HP/Mulan. Except Harry doesn't do that tongue thing... Just his luck to be an animagus dragon, but he turns into the world's smallest Chinese Fireball.

A Song of Ice and Fire and Tortall. Because it's slightly scary how similar they are.

I was just now struck with the image of a talking lion looking for his little purple dog, a scarecrow looking for his pet mouse, and a tin woodsman needing the fifth ring from the Planeteers. And a creepy juxtaposition of the Ruby Slippers and the Red Shoes.
I'm not really sure where my brain is today....
