Trump news the second

And also that it's something the Trump campaign is doing because they think they can win.

I haven't the faintest idea. Okay, yeah, whoever's using them, that kind of ad I see as more of a morale attack than anything else - you're not expecting to get people to vote for A instead of B, just to get them to not vote for B, whether it's by voting third party or not voting at all. It's not an obviously wrong thing to apply the term to on a purely dictionary basis... except that's not what the phrase actually gets used for. Connotation vs. denotation. So I don't even. (My first line on this subject was supposed to be an expression of disbelief that they were using that term for such a bog-standard political tactic.)

To everyone in the USA,

If you haven't yet voted and you're eligible to vote, please vote. The race is so close in some states that your vote will make a difference.

Especially if you're black and from North Carolina.
Edit: Record turnout of Latino voters in clark county Nevada in early voting
What does that mean? Clark County holds 70 percent of Nevada's voters. Trump is not happy.

Well fuck.
I'm tempted to say that America has made it's bed and will have to lie in it, but that's a) unfair to 50% of Americans and b) ignoring that the rest of us will have to live with out economies and national security depenent on this delusional clown.

Right now my only consolation is hoping that in 4 years, both sides will basically say, "welp, we're not going to do that ever again."

In the meantime... well, no. At this stage, speculating about the worst can only look like sour grapes. But I have LBGT friends who are terrified of what will happen to them over the next four years, and a few non-white friends who aren't far behind them.

Well... Hmmm. How often did I say in this thread that the only poll that counts is the one at the ballot box?

On a related note: It isn't my office that's responsible for making sure this doesn't happen, but it is my department's responsibility. So, on behalf of my co-workers, I apologize for the recent outage of the official Canadian immigration website.

No, what I fear the most is the most likely scenarios.  Mike Pence is going to the co-president. He will be doing what Dick Cheney was doing under Dubya. Do I need to remind all what happened then?

Joy...

Much that I do understand how a lot of people in the States got so frustrated with Washington that they'd want to vote a total outsider into the White House, but damn...!

Still, Mr. Trump is a businessman first and foremost. He'll just have to learn the new way of cutting deals inside the Beltway.

The question is if he is interested in doing so? the answer to that is no. Everything he has done has worked so far, so why would he change?

I think our most plausible hope is that he — soon — oversteps so VERY far that even the Republicans in Congress turn on and impeach him.  Unfortunately, I don't think it's particularly plausible.
I wonder if I'll ever again be able to be proud of being a U.S. citizen?  The American People Have Spoken — and what they said sounds like flatulence.  The KKK and American Nazis are gloating and licking their lips....

Today is my sister's birthday.  It's a hell of a lousy present her fellow citizens have given her.

The problem with that is that he's a businessman with a long string of failures behind him.  He walked away from them by gaming the system so he could claim his bankruptcies as tax breaks.  And that makes him "smarter" than those of us who don't try to evade responsibilities.

We dumped our cable TV several months ago because we realized that almost the only stuff we watch is Netflix and Hulu, and we have frankly lousy radio reception. So I had the pleasure of informing Peggy a few minutes ago by phone of the election results.

She was shocked, upset and disbelieving... and that, I believe, is half of the US in a microcosm this morning.

Just stopping by to say that yes, while I supported Trump, I refuse to gloat over those who voted Hillary or third party.

You voted your conscience no matter what, and I respect everyone who did that.

If anything, I just hope Trump lives up to his hype and proves as competent as he claimed he'd be.

Not bad for a fiver bet

This whiskey will go down a treat, while watching the whole lot burn.

The pattern is the same the world over. Fuck the System, in any which way possible. Its happening everywhere. A decade of pent up frustration released from the sphincter of society.

This is the way the world ends

Like GethN7 I am not going to gloat, I knew after the convention that it would be a tight race no matter which way it went. I will own this President's actions knowing that I helped put him in office. Now the places have effectively been flipped from 2008, let us see what happens.
