284 is enough - NEW new fic rec thread
Re: Between a rock and...
Heir to the Empire:
a short (relatively) sweet, and refreshing take on SM/R.5
Also, loving the psychology behind the flashbacks, very much along the lines of 'Hero'-Terry

Far Beyond Normal
Far Beyond Normal
A pretty good Buffy/Stargate SG-1 crossover
It starts a little slow (picks up around chapter 5-6) and the author makes a few political points relating to current events (torture and national defense). However, it's well written enough with various characters making their points that it's worth reading.

Re: Far Beyond Normal
I got through all the extant material in this story, and I have to agree it's quite good. I'm hoping there's more, as there are certainly enough hanging plot threads (hell, plot ropes) to carry the story for easily another 13 chapters.

True, but they're all reasonably within character and they are plot-relevant; as far as in-story rants go, I'd say that as a whole "Far Beyond Normal" barely merits a "1" on the Ornstead scale of intrusive opinionizing.
I did note that 9/11 was apparently more severe in that timeline -- there was a throwaway line about the destruction not only of the WTC but of the Pentagon and the Capitol, and another about 4000 9/11 deaths.

That was a lot better than I was expecting. I'm looking foward to more there.

S'Tarkan/Viridian has joined Fanficauthors.net.
Also found via www.fanficauthors.net:
Whydoyouneedtoknow has posted "Living With Danger" and "Living Without Danger", a marginally interesting HP AU. Also posted recently is "Maybe", an AU on that AU (which didn't interest me, but anyway....)--

Something from Liz Marcs of BtVS fame. I came across it again the other day, and was absolutely floored by it a second time. Thought I'd share:

Here's one by GreyMatter, called Past and Present Tense. It's D/X, but entertaining.

His other fic, Marching Orders, is also somewhat nifty.--

I've gotten partway through this -- not bad at all so far.

Has anyone seen any D/F done? It's a totally non-canon pairing, but I'm in an odd mood.--

I've seen it before. I just have no idea where I'd start looking to find it though.

Googled a bit. That is *Dawn* and *Faith* right?

And not quite what you asked, but an interesting BtVS and Neverwhere crossover featuring Dawn.

And this is just way off, but interesting nonetheless. Sandman and BtVS crossover featuring Buffy this time.

Things SG Teams are No Longer Allowed to do Off World.
This is a odd sort of fanfic that centers on a list.
If you like Stargate fanfics then you need to read this.

You will probably end up making most of the fanfic in your own mind.

Oh, had not gotten that far yet, sorry.

edit: doh, you gorgot the link format, rofl.
There is *almost* some of the other stuff in the later chapter too ( but not really)
Re: Things SG Teams are No Longer Allowed to do Off World.
Just read the List. And the attached LOTR crossover, which ties in to Vathara's Upon A Fiery Steed (which does an amazing job of adding Gundam Wing to the Stargate universe).
This goes beyond *shatter*.
*explodes*.

Forever White Knight. For the record, this is the first fanfic I've ever read where one of the characters decides to "borrow" the Death Star.-- This message brought to you by Ely Lilly, makers of SeraFem: Happy Pills for PMS.

HOLY CARP! Why didn't anyone TELL me about this author?!? Grife! I've never had the burning hatred for GW that so many people seem to share, but I would have said that a serious Xover between GW and SG1 would have been impossible.
Before I read this.
Whoa.
I have GOT to read more of this author.
Re: Upon a Fiery Steed
Vathara's Ethan Rayne's Very Bad Day was also recced awhile back and highly recommended.

I gotta admit, I'm impressed, too. The story itself has a little bit too much of the yaoi subtext for my usual tastes, but the detail put into figuring out how to get the GW universe to fit into a SG-1 context is damned impressive. You can tell the author put some serious effort into it.
Though I would've liked to got a bit more description of the Gundams. I got that they weren't, you know, Gundam Gundams, but beyond that, nothing. But that's just me, a crusty ol' gearhead to the last. [Image: wink.gif] ---
