Couldn't get into these. First one's prose had me cringing and the second one was giving me flashbacks to some of the old Ranma fics where he's doing his quantum phyics homework on one hand while trading chi blast with Saffron with the other. Guess I'm just spoiled reading the stuff you guys write.
That Firefly/Buffy fic though, that totally kicked my ass. And it updates all the time.---------------

the fic that got me started...
11-23-2005, 01:08 PM
on liking Faith from BTVS.
www.dreamsmithstories.com/index1.html
The story is Virtue of a Warrior and it's an AU diverging at the point when Faith first left Sunnyvale. Instead of ending up in LA, she ends up... somewhere different. The story does get dark and there are times when Faith loses herself (she does do some - questionable - things), but it only makes the conclusion all the more sweeter. And let's just say Buffy isn't the only one who can kick ass and take names.
To quote the author on what the story is about:
"True, Faith had reached a point where she could no longer go on with her life, not her life as it was, at any rate. However, she didn't need Angel to 'save her'.
We all have it in us to save ourselves."

I'm not sure if they've been recommended but some of Aeryn Alexander's fanfics are probably one of the few Harry potter fics that don't set my teeth on edge. Probably because they deal with the Wizarding World before Voldemort.
Anyway, check out "A Little Knowledge", sadly unfinished, though it almost is :
www.fanfiction.net/s/1539951/1/
and "Another Time":
www.fanfiction.net/s/1218939/1/
There are other fics there but I've only read those two.
Edit: Now I remember why I ddin't read her other fics. They set my teeth on edge. ^_^ Just read those two and you should be fine.

Numerous detective conan fics that are very much worth reading.
Oh, and she updated her most recent series today too!

Oh, that's the same reason why my teeth get on edge for the other fics. ^_^ The two I mentioned are less ...I dunno... contaminated. Mostly original characters or the historical characters.

So, are there any BtVS crossover fics that are recommended? I've read the muggle way for a while and Jedi Harris, and curiously want more BtVS crossovers... _____________________________

I know some of these have been listed before, but here is my complete list of damn good BtVS fic (warning - I have a preference for X/F so most of these stories will feature one or both):
Liz Marcs ( LJ and FF.net): Whisper, Living History, Water Hold Me Down (WIP), and No Myth (WIP) all in one verse. Other stories of note include Ishmael Sings of the White Whale, Contrite Spirits, and Cuckoo in the Nest.
M McGregor ( LJ and I Need a Parrot): a bit of a power!Xander writer, but still damn good stories. Surrogate Angel verse: Surrogate Angel Going It Alone Helping Hand Misplaced Destinies and Connected. And I would be remiss not to mention the smuttastic The Zeppo In Mind.
Mara Sho ( LJ and FF.net): The wonderful dark and twisted Crimson Regret.
Nemo Gravis ( LJ and I Need a Parrot): Partners Series - Sex for nerds Fallout Numbing the pain Skin deep Bad influence. I also have great love for Broken and Roman Holiday (WIP).
Nwhepcat ( LJ and Bugger This): For the massive Lilac City. Also snapshots series - Crater Backseat Black Rebuilding Dormant Magics Wait For the Beep Double Vision This Little Light Xander's Slayers One Dark Night, Four Souls History. And once you have finished that mountian of goodness there is Keeper of the Book.
LudditeRobot ( LJ and FF.net): makes the list for Eyeless and Snowblind
Booster ( LJ and TTH.com): Far too many to mention them all but the ones that stand out are California Screaming (WIP) and Neighbours From Hell(mouth)
Marcus Rowland ( LJ and FF.net): Another author with far too much goodness to specifically mention, so here are my favorites. The Key to Byzantium (WIP), Subcontractor, Omphalos, and the the definitive Slayers / CSI series.
Bastard Snow ( LJ and FF.net): for The Coffee Series. Also False Smiles is well worth a read.
Bella Temple ( LJ and Bunkum): makes the list with Fannon Fodder.
Don Sample ( The Buffy Body Count and FF.net): responsible for Harry Potter and the Key of Dagon, and the Too Good to be True Misunderstandings To Be, or Not To Be Trilogy.
Arjen ( FF.net): rounds out the list with a Buffy/Noir series - Black Sunrise The Day After Dark, Darker Unforeseen Consequences: Heart of Darkness Christmas Shopping Unforeseen Consequences: Revelations. Not for everyone, but it gets my vote.

New story by Bobmin, called Parallels, where a super-Harry leaves his world after the destruction of Voldemort, and crosses dimensions to find peace. A one-shot of astounding proportions, extremely well-written and powerfully moving.

Reading S'TarKan's fic, I've gotten to the end-of-HPPS quidditch match, and I have to say that spending so much time playing blitzball for teleport spheres has rather incresed my appreciation for the sport - thouhg it does help that he describes it with actual tactics in the playing rather than a couple of mentions of scoring and then a spectacular catch by Harry. All told, I'm enjoying that story quite a bit so far - it kind of reminds me of the Xander-fic where he dressed as himself but older on Halloween, and pulled back the emories of himself at 90-something after being The Man In Charge of supernatural defense after the demon invadsions realy picked up, post-series.
