Here you go. Enjoy the journey. There is a whole load of backstory but SOTS is pretty self contained for the first two or three Symphony's

also when reading, if you're thinking "was that who/what I think it was." it most likely is. Your brain will hurt less.

Ya, I'll second the win that is SotS. You may not to want to start it tonight if you have work in the morning.

More like next Month! He hasn't even heard of EPU so he's gonna wind up reading through everything, including Neon Exodus Evangelion!

Such a story could easily work - you'd just end up mentally scarred from writing it.

Might be a bit of time before I get to it though. I started reading the Dresden Files about two or three weeks ago, and I'm just starting on book 9 tonight. After that, I have a box set of Lensman novels waiting for me. I'm trying to keep from starting anything new that is more than one book/book equivalent before I finish all those.
Oh, and I need to read the novelization of Metropolis by Monday.

post when you do, please? Hey, I think I'm going at a fairly good pace. I've got a bunch of other stuff on my plate as well, so I can't read all the time, unfortunately.
Anyway, I'll let you know when I hit the end of book 12. I'm about halfway through 9 now, so it shouldn't long. (I started reading about a half hour after my earlier post.)
Edit: About two and a half hours later, book nine complete.

This, combined with my recent reading material, gave me a different idea.
What if Haruhi's the Pillar? I mentioned this one to the fellow who runs the "Being Upfront" website. His reply, in full:
"Given Princess Emeraude's fate in the series, I can hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth now."

"Consider an iceberg, its every form and aspect." Ok. The order I have listed on the backs of the books is:
- Triplanetary
- First Lensman
- Galactic Patrol
- Grey Lensman
- Second Stage Lensmen
- Children of the Lens
- Masters of the Vortex
What order should I read them in?

3; 4, skipping the prologue; 5, skipping the prologue; 6. Then 1, 2, and 7.

The order you listed is the chronological run of the in-universe timeline. Triplanetary kicks off the series, and the same characters pick up in First Lensmen. Galactic Patrol takes place after a timeskip, and the hero from there continues in Grey Lensman...and so on.
I don't think you'll really suffer if you read them in this order. I did. But EML makes a good case. Because Galactic Patrol is a MUCH better introductions to the universe than Triplanetary and First Lensman.
Much better.

Thanks everyone. Now, back on topic,
We've replaced Kamina from Gurren Lagann with Alucard from Hellsing. Will anyone notice?

Based on Scott Adam's latest cartoon panel:
Hogwarts has new Muggle Studies professor. His name is Dilbert. So what department would Catbert and Dogbert be under?
