...because, at least as far as the Elements of Magic schtick goes, this is literally true.
These are my friends. There are many others like them, but these ones are mine. Without me, my friends are useless. Without my friends, I am useless. 
I don't have any context for it, but I'd love to see the line, "Pony up, bro!" used somewhere in the near plotspace of getting someone hooked on the ponies against stereotype.

Why not go full circle: Luna (girl) in Equestria, Luna (pony) in Tokyo, Luna (cat) in Hogwarts, three casts trying to figure out how to get them back home while dealing their usual problems. I'd read it.

Now there's a thought - Luna (pony) is "the GOOD dark goddess," right? I wonder what a Slayers style magic user would make of her.
