Straight answers? Well, mostly straight answers.
Right, right. It's important to remember that the SRI isn't really part of the Shadow War.
It's just that the sort of people who end up running operations and agencies in those conflicts tend to be, well, supervillains.
Also the classic, 'Because I'm one of the idiots who live there!' Always a good motivation.
