Official summary: Harry Potter Without Harry Potter Suppose Tom Riddle never bothers to show mercy, and Harry Potter dies with his parents? What would that mean for the world, to have no Boy-Who-Lived to save them? ("A couple of stubborn kids" just doesn't have the same ring to it.)

Sadly, it seems most things are somewhere between average and better... at least so far. The various plots and events of second year are just coming to a head, at the point it has currently reached, with an uncommon cliffhanger as several of the main cast are petrified with the Chamber of Secrets plotline just reaching the "(pronoun) bones will lie in the chamber forever" point and some other characters about to set off on an entirely unrelated rescue mission.

Bob: I may have been mistaken. Chapter ten (or somewhere thereabouts) is totally devoted to hearing the private conversations of all the first years getting sorted. Kinda threw me off. The focus then quickly goes back to our favorite Gryfendors, sans The-Boy-Who-Lived.

It's.... Interesting so far.

Hm. I'll have to try it, in my copious free time.

Fanfic author Larry Huss has passed, away, according to notes appended to his stories by his son.  I have found his stories enjoyable, with his only major flaw as an author being a tendency to get distracted with unnecessary side plots or plot twists in the latter portions of his stories.  I particularly recommend A Teacher's Glory (Naruto, Kakashi should have thought twice about telling assassins in training to come at him with intent to kill) and Out of the West (Potter, Two secret societies of people with paranormal powers are about to intersect)

No, I don't believe the world has gone mad.  In order for it to go mad it would need to have been sane at some point.

I enjoyed A Teacher's Glory, and I'm disappointed that he'll be unable to finish his Potter fic Palimpests.  He was a good author.

Rorschach's Blot has a story about Mirror-verse Khan shaking up the canon-verse Federation.

Edit: Finished the most recent chapter and found it dedicated to Larry Huss, who I mentioned above.
Adding: A Leaf Turned - Adam isn't nice, but isn't psychotic and left the White Fang at the same time as Blake.  He goes to Beacon in Blake's place.

I've been on a nostalgia fueled reading trip lately and found this: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5876464/1/SeaHorse

It needs some polish but the story is pretty good and have to admit that the ending hit all the feels.
“We can never undo what we have done. We can never go back in time. We write history with our decisions and our actions. But we also write history with our responses to those actions. We can leave the pain and the damage in our wake, unattended, or we can do the work of acknowledging and fixing, to whatever extent possible, the harm that we have caused.”

Sword Art Online: A Mother's Adventure

Premise: Asuna's mother gets curious about the whole VR gaming phenomenon - her son's an afficionado, after all, and her daughter's trapped in SAO. So she gets hold of the new headset and tries out ALFheim Online. And runs into some familiar faces....

Island in a Sea of Sand (complete) - Obi-wan Kenobi arrives on Tattooine to find Owen and Beru Lars have just been killed by Tusken Raiders. He hadn't considered raising the infant Luke on his own, and certainly never though he woul dbecome a dad - but what else is he to do?

Island in a Sea of Sun - Luke Lars is now five years old, living with his dad Ben on Tattooine. But, they're not just normal moisture farmers, they have a secret: Ben is actually a Jedi, and he's training Luke in their ancient arts too.

ClassicDrogn, could you just chill on this? Because it's getting kind of old.

(And, you know, when you're reading on a 24" monitor, having text going from wall to wall the way the mobile site presents it isn't actually that much fun to read.)

No, ads and script bloat are pure evil and must be fought at all costs. And you can set your browser window to not be fullscreen, you know. In any case, here's something on SpaceBattles, so you can have all the script bloat you can stand:

A Tail of Transmogrification casts Taylor in place of Calvin, of the Calvin & Hobbes comics. It is a similar kind of surreal fun as the originals, despite otherwise being entirely Worm.

Oh that is awesome. Bob, he's right. If you haven't read it already, do it. You must have these six thousand words as well! Big Grin

Done, right now. Oh, yes, that's a great piece. Thank you for the recommendation, nocarename.

Thanks to the "IWIW RWBY" thread recommended elsewhere, I discovered this fic: Emergence by Chris7221. The girls of Team RWBY start arriving in the Real World... not together, and not all at once. Can Ruby, with the help of a bunch of poor college students, find her teammates and gather them all together?

Better than it sounds, and the first installment in a series of fics. I've not gotten through all of them yet, but based on the few I have read, I'll recommend them all, even sight unseen.

Edit:  And now, a few days later, I've finished just about everything in the series, including the April Fools stories. I reinforce my recommendation.  Also, a bit of an explanation -- this is not in Completed Fanfic Recommendations because the various stories are very tightly bound together, and the current one is still being written (in fact, the most recent installment just came out yesterday).  For those interested, after Emergence there is Aliens Among Us, followed by the still-incomplete Convergence; these three stories while functionally stand-alone, make up the main story arc that everything else ties into.  And which is going some very interesting places right now.

Found in the bookmarks of the author of Empty Graves above: The story of someone having to deal with the paperwork surrounding Coulson coming back from the dead.

I really enjoy a well-executed Lower-Deck episode.

It's a fix-fic, it predates the canonical fix, it would be almost systematically jossed by AOS... and it's so much fun that I don't actually care. Everything is beautiful and nothing hurts. 8)

way back in 2008-9, the author MarbleGlove wrote a 2 part Labyrinth fic set after the movie: Her Kingdom as Great

I just stumbled  across a one shot sequel to that, which also happens to cross over with (later seasons of) Stargate. The Ambassador

Edit: "Not Your Normal Slayer" by TAO - it's an 'inspired by and Batzulger authorized sequel' to "Not a Dream, Fairy Tale, or Imaginary Story"
