I Just Realized I Never Mentioned...

Well, I found out I didn't get the NIOSH job in Pittsburgh. Too bad.

Thanks Bob. I'm dissapointed, but not too dissapointed, mind you. All I have to remember is that all important metric: Job offer accepted :1! So 1 down, 5 currently to go. Plus 16 more in the pipeline. I'm just going to keep applying unitil I get to the first day on the job..

Ah crud...
There was an announcement the other day that one of the EPA positions that I applied for an passed HR screening was cancelled. I didn't think much of it until I checked it today. It was the position I interviewed on May 11. Ah well. That position would had been a rough transition if I had taken it.

I got a call out of the blue today from a headhunter agency that I'd sent one application to back at the beginning of January. Apparently I matched the profile for a position they just got... hopefully the client will like the sound of me enough to get at least to the first interview.

Okay, application passed HR screening for Appleton, Wisconsin. How cold does it get in those latitudes? You're talking to a guy who wears a sweater if it hits 65!

Well, it looks like I'll definitely be moving out of town. What's nice (and totally out of character for the feds) is the quick response from OSHA. I'm not complaining.

So if two is coincidence, the 3 would be?
So Wolfram and Hart are hiring?
I'm waiting right now for my phone interview @ OSHA Birmingham to start.  I just got an email from OSHA Wisconsin asking when I would like to be interviewed. I'ved notice this pattern.. It takes about 2 weeks from end on the job announcement now to get approved for HR (primarily because the HR person in charge knows my application very well) and then I get notified by phone or email for interview arrangements. Something is up.
Edit: The VA in Minneapolis called me at 0530 this morning. They told me that one of the 2 slots for the position I was applying has been taken and it wasn't me. The last slot they'll determine this Friday. The HR person told me to give them a call on that day.

Finished the interview with OSHA Birmingham. I guess it's a good thing if the interviewer asks when can you start? Got another interview for OSHA Appleton Wisconsin this Thursday.

Got another application for the Army..this time in Seoul. Just in time for the shooting war to start. Smile

Stroke of good fortune for me today. A place I'd applied to a couple months ago called me up out of the blue this morning. And when I say "a place", I mean a potential employing company, not an agency, and when I say a company, I mean the guy who runs it. Apparently my eclectic resume fits their needs perfectly -- Princeton grad, writing/tech writing skills, programmer in .NET, and no BSing in what turned out to be a first telephone interview. He decided he liked me, sent me a link to an online reasoning assessment (first time I've ever seen a test that assessed your abilities to draw inferences, determine the strength of arguments, and identify implicit assumptions), and told me if I did well on it, they'd have me in for an in-person interview by Wednesday, with an all-day final round on Friday, and a yea or nay decision on hiring me by early next week.

The kicker? It's a quarter mile from where Peggy works. I drive past their building four times a day on weekdays. I'm already commuting there every day.

Serendipity- got to love it.
Sorry to hear that Bob.
Sonething funny happened a few hours ago. I decided to followup on some of the OSHA positions that I passed but I didn't get an interview. I called up the Toledo Ohio office and ending up talking with the Area Director. She just finished emailing me asking when I would liked to be called for an interview. She asked me whether I wanted to have the interview then and there. I wasn't that brave and declined. but it's set for 1300 EST or 1000 local tomorrow. I will be a busy guy.
