PC World has a list of their favorite April Fools articles for 2010.
USA Today was running an article that said Mini owners could easily change the paint color of their cars , but then later updated the article to add a "we got fooled" intro to the original piece.
ETA:  Christian Science Monitor has their top 5 list for the day.  (YouTube has text mode?)

This is actually from 2008, but I just discovered it a couple minutes ago while following some links out of an article linked to London Atom Smasher prank. And it's just too amazingly good not to share.
Yes, that's Terry Jones of Monty Python. According to the page where I found this, "This BBC hoax was broadcast on April 1 2008, with plenty of viewers and several well-known newspapers falling for the joke."

I was just reminded of a classic from the nearly pre-internet age:
On April 1, 1985, in the pages of Sports Illustrated magazine, George Plimpton brought to our attention The Curious Case of Sidd Finch .
ETA this  - if you click the View This Issue link, you can go to that article and see the photos and diagrams and such that went with it.
and this  - in the April 8 issue, the Scorecard section had a piece called The End of the Affair , in which Sidd Finch quit baseball because his control had left him.  The April 15 issue included a Letter from the Publisher , in which they wrote that they hadn't expected things to get so out of hand. People really wanted to believe! (View This Issue for both issues for photos)

On the WoW theme, WoW.com (normally "The WoW Insider") has ben rebranding itself all day to one game after another, and occasionally to non-game things; it never lasts more than two articles before they move on to another brand. I think they're on at least their sixth brand, and accompanying complete re-theming of the front page, if not their eighth...
