Awaiting Birnam Wood
Awaiting Birnam Wood
#1
Can't remember if I mentioned this before, but we ordered some trees to replace the ones we lost in the storm last month.  They will be delivered and planted early this afternoon, and I can't wait to see both the process and the result.

... does the "pics or it didn't happen" concept apply to tree implantation?

well, yes. The pornographic implications of the term should not be allowed to reduce its utilization in other areas of knowledge that one wishes to verify through photographic evidence.

Well. As of right now, it would be "pics and it didn't happen". The nursery guy ended up running late, and then when he went to pick up the trees, he discovered that the tree farm had ... misrepresented the size of their rootballs to him -- they were about twice as large as he was expecting, which meant that he couldn't use the equipment he had to even move them. So... he was supposed to come by this afternoon, scout out the yard, and figure out what he had to use to get the trees in, but I haven't heard from him since about quarter of two. And I won't be around at all tomorrow morning, so god knows when this is going to happen.

The trees were just dropped off a few minutes ago, to be planted tomorrow morning. Because of the rootball problem -- apparently because of the warm and wet weather we've had over the past few weeks the rootballs for everything had to be dug bigger because they'd grown more -- because of this, the trees are smaller than we initially ordered; they're the largest he could move without renting equipment that would a) cost us $250 more and b) need to drive through our neighbors' yard.

In any case, I will do my best to document the implantation, per the forum's collective orders. Mind you, digging holes and plopping trees into them isn't nearly as exciting as cutting down a cedar, so I suspect there won't be any video this time.

holes are _very_ exciting, mostly because of what you can put in them.

(WHAT?? I meant trees and houses and pools and patios, jeez!)

gods. you'd think you were all a buncha squids, the way yall are misinterpreting all this.

Though I am doing no better, as I've just realized that all of this comes down to a big ball problem.

Bob,
We have all been the very image of restraint in making comment.
No one asked how Peggy feels about morning wood; or how it fits into her own busy schedule.
No one has chided you for the admission that your wood is not as large as advertised, though it is somewhat muted by the larger than expected ball size.
No one has speculated about the origin of the holes themselves; though I have my own suspicions.

C'mon, folks - there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for everything that Bob has posted. (If you know what I mean...)

1:30 PM and still no sign of the guy. His tools and the trees are here, but he isn't. And I have to go out in a little bit. This is somewhat ridiculous.
