Need a pergola? Daz has one for free, this week.

(Yes, I did have to look up the word "pergola." Why do you ask?)

Sadly, that one won't fit Peggy's very strict requirements. Starting with "it must be real and physical".

I'm reasonably sure that I saw a manga image of Belldandy wearing %[link=http://www.sharecg.com/v/53533/browse/11/Poser/Tied-Top-for-V4]a top like this one] while on summer vacation, back before Skuld first showed up.

I'm almost certain I've seen a manga image of Urd wearing a top like that one.

And I'm positive I saw a manga start-of-chapter page where Skuld wore a top like that one. (Her hair was done up in twin tails, too.)

So... beachwear, hot babe, or girl-next-door... that's a pretty versatile top.

(Say, Mark... one of the goddesses, in the new top?)

For HRogge, and others using Blender, you may want to check out Madman's Shipyard. He has some Blend files of Star Trek vessels!

Anybody have a Facebook account? (I don't.) Daz says they'll give us something if their Facebook page gets 5000 "likes" - as of this posting, they're 18 short of that.

They gave out $2.40 vouchers last weekend just because it was a holiday in Utah, so I suspect this might be something along those lines.

(Yeah, they give out good-for-one-day-only vouchers on their Facebook page, on an irregular basis. I always look there if I plan to buy something anyway - may as well save a buck or two.)

Looks like I might want to get 3D World #146 for the DVD. According to a post of the Daz forums, the outfits are "Captain Rebel", "Cold Life" and "Truck Clothing" for M4 and "Cocktail Dress", "Elaia Dress" and "My Princess" for V4 - I don't have any of those yet, save for "Cocktail Dress".

I am not downloading http://www.sharecg.com/v/53697/browse/1 ... Kyubey-Hat]this. (At least, not now.) However, I think the glazed expression on Aiko's face in the promo render says much...

This looks promising, for those cases of "doesn't look like real fur".

(And, hey, that avatar icon looks somewhat familiar... Mark, is this something that came from her offer to help you with this sort of thing?)

robkelk Wrote:Edit again: http://sites.google.com/site/dazfreebie ... s/july2011]The competition - there are 12 entries in the first 12 days, which is about half as many as last month. I think some people are giving the "survivor" meme a bit of a twist... and there's nothing wrong with that.

Well, it's the end of the month, and there are http://sites.google.com/site/dazfreebie ... s/july2011]23 entries in this contest. Mine was #7. I don't envy the judges this time.

Edit: No, I didn't win, or even place. Ah, well.

I never did enter the other contest I wanted to enter, on account of not being able to find a lance or a WWI-era motorcycle. (Ethereal "knight on horseback" in the background, soldier on motorcycle in the foreground, both charging up the same hill... I still want to do that image, but it can wait now.)

This month's Freebie Contest is "nursery rhymes". I've already picked a rhyme and downloaded all the freebies I'm going to need - here's hoping they all play well together, and with K4. (If I hurry, I might even be able to post my entry before the prizes are announced...)

Alas, I missed "first entry" by seven hours... but I did make the second entry. "Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack jump over the candlestick"... or, in this case, Jackie. "If Mommy can do a grand jete, so can I!"

Edit: Aargh! One of the freebies disappeared between the time I downloaded it and used it... so I had to add more freebies. New image replaces old image.

(Okay, so she can't, but I'm not going to tell her that. Besides, that was as far as her legs would go without serious poke-through issues with the dress.)

Now to pick another nursery rhyme for a second entry. Any suggestions? (The sample render at the start of the contest was "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", and the entry posted before mine was "There was an old woman who lived in a shoe..." Entries since then include a nicely-creepy version of "Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater", "Pussycat, pussycat, where have you been?", a Forum-Pervert-worthy version of "Three Blind Mice", "Little Bunny Foo Foo", and "Jack and Jill")

Edit: And http://sites.google.com/site/dazfreebie ... august2011]here's the contest's gallery page, in case anyone wants to see the competition.

Anybody want to do a Mass Effect render?

(I'm just glad she isn't one of the Kasumis that went into Cobalt's Fenspace character... One has to pay money for this set.)

If you've got this and you need a reason to enter the August 2011 freebie challenge, consider the half-dozen free textures for the outfit that chohole is giving to everyone who takes part in the challenge.

Less "Megumi-Morisato" style, more "North American" style... but they're cute. And you can only get them if you take part in http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t= ... sc&start=0]the contest.

I guess the good news is that it's only the 32-bit version, so I'm not going to be using it until the 64-bit version comes out.

Last week's Daz freebie (still free as of this posting) was a gazebo.

It must be a Dread Gazebo - this week's Daz freebie is something for Eric to attack it with.

Somewhat more seriously...

I've never seen a single model with a reference manual before, but http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/the- ... item=13149]this model has one. (I think maybe I just found Fenspace's Moon Kingdom Memorial Outpost...)

Was $4000, is currently free: MachStudio Pro 2.

(However, I don't have a DirectX 11 video card or Windows 7, so it's of no use to me...)

http://www.renderosity.com/2011-annual- ... -cms-15800]Renderosity annual surveys - take the surveys, get the freebies (one freebie per survey). There are two surveys (Community Survey and Marketplace Survey) and thee freebies ("QBert" by BionicRooster, "CDFShuttle" by Madaboutgames, and "Charlie Dress" by Rpublishing). I suspect you have to be logged in to take the surveys, but I'm not sure - I log in as a matter of course when I visit Rendo.

They're drawing ten surveys at the end of the survey period - the people who completed them each get a $100 gift certificate.

If http://www.sharecg.com/v/54591/browse/1 ... rls-for-V4]this harido is as good as the promo images make it out to be, I'll be very happy. (Considering it's a 50MB download, it just might be a decent 'do.)
