Be careful driving - you're under stress, and aren't up to peak performance. Better to show up an hour late than not show up at all...

Down and made it. Mom's getting discharged from the hospital to go to the hotel room for the rest of the stay. (She's got about a month of appointments I've got to take her to.

I had a dope slap moment and wound up driving down. Now my necessities are a good bit more... reasonable. I'm gonna have to talk to all my creditors on Tuesday though to try to get some delays on my bills.

Again, it never hurts to ask. Especially if you have some bills to pay.

(I don't know whether phrasing your request as asking for a loan or a grant would be better... Which do you feel more comfortable with?)

Fair enough. I'll hafta talk to the social worker at the next meeting, in a couple days.

		Update 10-20

Mom is doing great, just shuttling her back and forth to appointments, etc. I have... Two weeks or so left of THAT.

Dad is to the point where the hospital wants him to get into rehabilitation so he can take care of himself, we just gotta see about getting him into a rehab facility rather than the hospital.

Well, the Rehab Hospital is all set. I know how to get to it, etc etc, and well, it wasn't my LOCAL social services but rather Florida's...

It helped that it's just temporary care. They're supposed to get him up enough that I can make the two-day drive home with him.

Mom's still doing okay, thank appropriate deistic entity.

Back home, Mom is full of piss and vinegar (she used to be full of just vinegar...), and Dad is recovering from recovering from the trip home.

Being forced to sit in effectively the same position, regardless of rest breaks for hours and hours is exhausting all on its own.

		That's great to hear, Fox!
My dad also had to go to a rehab place after one of his knee surgeries. (That's the one where they kept him cooped up for too long due to all the stupid bureaucratic BS and his health suffered because of that to the point that he scared me. I think I posted about this before on the forums here.) But he was already going stir crazy from the hospital.
We still both chuckle about "The Great Escape" from the rehab hospital that I helped him stage.
No really. Dad called me before 2 days were up at the rehab place and basically said words to the effect of - "Son, these idiots don't know what they're doing and I'm going crazy, GET ME OUT OF HERE!"
So - basically going along the idea of "easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission" - or at least avoid red tape delays - I literally drove up to a side entrance to the rehab place, grabbed a wheelchair, called dad on the cell phone to make sure he was ready, and we scooted past the nurses station when they weren't looking and scrammed out of there. Later dad called them up to settle affairs and to sort things out. But he didn't go back personally and within a week he was walking on his new knee just fine (with a bit of help from a cane and later without the cane.)
Later I joked with him that I had the Mission Impossible theme running in my head on the way out.
