WTF images for today MK II

Rod H Wrote:[Image: 14.jpg]
Okay, I know what this is.  It's a piston-rod off a truly ginormous diesel engine - most likely one built for a super-tanker.
What I don't know (and would love to find out) is how in the blue-blazes did that happen?

From the scorch marks, I'm guessing that whatever happened also sent the supertanker to drydock... (Assuming it is from a supertanker, of course.)

Given it's size, I don't know of anything else it could be from.

Also, (according to the discovery channel at least) when you build engines that big, small problems can become big problems rather fast. In a normal engine anything large enough that it's structural stable, won't fit through the vast majority of the openings. When engines get large enough that you can crawl inside the cylinder to inspect it, the average size of the openings between various parts of the engine allows for significantly larger parts that broke off upstream to pass on through to whatever is next.

Also when parts are bigger, they're more likely to have a larger flaw in them. Then fracture mechanics will bite your ass.

You have to remember....the portal gun was originally made to be a shower curtain, as messed up as that sounds. This is well within the realm of possibilities.

Um, Rob, somehow I don't think that's going to be an option.

The clothes beam goes right over my head, too, but the "Multi-pass" is LeeLoo (Milla Jovovich) from The Fifth Element, and it's a line she speaks in the movie (it's better with context).

The man is Captain Jack Harkness. The weapon he holds was once a "Defabricator" used on a "fatal" television show. It was used to, well, defabricate his outfit at least twice in the episode, leaving him "naked in front of millions of viewers".
