New Fic Recommendations: The Phoned-in Sequel

Thanks yesilmavi!

I had not even thought to check for a rec page at tvtropes, despite using it for fanfic recs previously.

I vaguely recall that I may have found it through these forums, but one original story I like is "100 Candles":

http://www.100.chaobell.net/main/?page_id=3

It's a variety of modern not-necessarily-urban fantasy, written in the first person, whose viewpoint character is gay - a fact which colors (or perhaps I should say, permeates) the entire work, and not IMO in a bad way. Saying too much more than that would spoil one aspect of it or another, but it's very good; unfortunately it hasn't been updated since (I think) February of '09, and even the blog which is that site doesn't seem to have had a post since January of this year.

FWIW, I don't recall its being explicit about the actual sex, but that's very definitely present - and there's enough standard (and, in a few cases, possibly nonstandard) "dirty language", from the narrative and from various characters, that I wouldn't look at this one at work.

Just Like Old Times. An ME fic from GregHL, the genius behind Nobody Dies. Actually, this is the MEverse that showed up in the ND Spinoff 'Rei Does the Multiverse' and who made a followup appearance in a recent chapter.

Glee! "Just Like Old Times" is a cross over with one of my other favorite games.

Greg has noted that Alex can't infect Wrex with the Blacklight Virus. And even if he could, he's a Krogan. His immune system would KILL the Blacklight virus :lol

Eh, all fairness to the Krogans aside, Alex Mercer should tear Wrex to pieces if the fight goes on.

The hunters have redundant spines in the latter stages of Prototype.

That just means you have to beat them up a little more before you consume them. doubly-redundant just means its a little harder.

Not to mention Mercer beat something that could do a good impression of a mama thresher maw in single combat... as a mid-game boss.

Way I see it, this is more the way a couple of deranged superpredators say 'hi' to each other.

I dunno, they had me at "Sell tickets".

I don't remember seeing this mentioned here, so:

Living Chemical Child

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6144593/1/

FF7/FMA crossover/fusion, S/Z/C, begun on the 15th, six chapters as of the 24th, and so far it looks intriguing.

Luminosity, a twilight fic inspired by HP and the Methods of Rationality. I like it quite a bit, and all my knowledge of twilight comes from xkcd.

EDIT: fixed html, did I mention I hate yuku?
E: "Did they... did they just endorse the combination of the JSDF and US Army by showing them as two lesbian lolicons moving in together and holding hands and talking about how 'intimate' they were?"
B: "Have you forgotten so soon? They're phasing out Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

It's not fanfic
and I do feel slightly bad about tooting my own horn, but I do believe that this is one of my best works ever.  Oh, and so *very* NSFW.

Okay, even after one short chapter, I know that's a keeper.

A Cowboy Bebop fic posted in 2002, but new to me.  Legend of a Cowgirl.  Seven years postBebop...Edward is all grown up, and she's on a mission of vengeance! But can a rogue hacker alone take down a ruthless murderer?

No, I don't believe the world has gone mad.  In order for it to go mad it would need to have been sane at some point.
