April Fools!
April Fools!
#1
So, as you all know, today is April Fools Day, and websites across the 'net are celebrating.
What's your favorite?
I'm enjoying xkcd, which apparently changes depending on a number of factors described on this reddit page.

Anyone with a referrer tag that indicates Texas will get the ending with a tornado. The girl is, of course, completely freaked out.

Funny thing. My ex-girlfriend in Japan said she'd rather have earthquakes over tornadoes. I argue that at least you can see a tornado coming with enough time to grab the survival kit and take shelter. I have yet to ask her thoughts on the matter after that perfect disaster last year.

I once thought that in choosing my disaster, I'd pick an earthquake over a tornado. My reasoning at the time was that in the aftermath of an earthquake, no matter the state of your residence and belongings, it's all still right there where you left it. Whereas with a tornado, if you suffer a direct hit, likely as not your stuff will be scattered over dozens of square miles and who knows if you'll see any of it ever again.

Of course, after seeing the aftermath of the earthquake, tsunami, and radiation leak cascade of disasters that befell Japan last year, I had to revise my opinion. o_o;

Having lived through a number of earthquakes, I have to say that tornadoes scare the linguine out of me.
Earthquakes are a general, area effect attack that you can deal with by getting outside and away from large structures.
Tornadoes are chaotic, semi-guided, near-sapient demons of destruction and terror.
Give me my earthquakes . . . oh, great FSM give me earthquakes!

My disaster of choice would be a false vacuum decay bubble. Just to get it over with quick, also no-one will miss me after that, so there is no reason to be sad. Mostly because the possibility of life would be eliminated from the universe, but eh, that's a minor detail. Can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.
