Levon Helm of the Band died of cancer.
Greg Ham (who rocked the flute on Land Down Under) of Men at work died under currently unknown circumstances.  (The dead part they are sure about; the rest is unknown-but non suspicious).
If this is Dick Clark doing one of those top 25 countdowns, colour me less than impressed.

There was also Jonathan Frid, who played Barnabas Collins in the original "Dark Shadows," who died in an amazing bit of timing, given that I just started seeing previews for the new movie by Tim Burton, starring Johnny Depp as Collins. (I'm not really sure what to make of it, but I suspect it may suck.)

But yeah, they camped it up, turning "We're low-budget but serious" into "Well they COULDN'T have POSSIBLY been SERIOUS when they wrote this crap, right?"
