Kick ALL the Starters!

LIFX LED Smart Lightbulbs
They're well over 900% funded, with almost two months left on the clock.  The devteam is currently in the "WTF!?" phase of things, and is looking at both improving the end product, and trying to make an order of magnitude more product than expected.
(This one's personal for me- I bought an LED bulb from Thinkgeek, hoping to light (or accent) by room with it, only to find out it has basically no lumens behind it.  This is everything I wanted, except brighter, more customizable, and several times smarter.)
If they had a stretch goal of porting the app you need to control the bulbs over to the BlackBerry, I'd give it a go...

I asked about it in the Comments page.  We'll see.
You can do it from a computer as well, so even if they didn't make the mobile app...

Send them a suggestion.  They might put something in.
There's also this, from their blog FAQ
Quote: How do I control LIFX from my own application on a PC or mobile device?
We will provide a LiFx client library for iOS and Android devices, which you can call from your application.  For other platforms, we will document the protocol API, so you can roll your own LiFx client library for your favorite platform / programming language.
but that isn't much help for those who want to use the things, and aren't familiar with programming.

You might want to edit that url.  When I clicked that link, I got a message thanking me for my contribution.  I'm not logged in, and I haven't given anything as far as I can tell, but...

This interests me and I think their Melbourne office is near me, how ever I've been slowly buying the Philips LED bulbs and installing them as needed.

Gack.  Okay, here's the fixed URL.

They're already into "stretch goal" territory, so pledge only what you can afford.

Uwingu.  Some people whose opinions I respect at XCOR are contributing, so I'm going to go ahead and take the plunge.  $10k still needed with 16hrs to go!

14 hours left now and they're only $2600 short.

Well, this isn't good:  The current Indiegogo campain, vs this new matching offer.

Dan "Smif" Smith, an illustrator on many of books, is trying to fund a/widget/card.html] 1920s-gangster themed card game on Kickstarter. He needs $10K, but as of today, with 13 days to go, he's only raised $3800.

Lasers!

Well, Laser cutters, anyway.

This one looks more pro, but is smaller and much more expensive.

This one is the one that really tempts me, although after my debacle with 3D printing I really should know better.  $1500 is quite a bit, but it's a heck of a lot less than any equivalent off-the-shelf unit.

I'm not sure if anyone else here plays Sentinels of the Multiverse, but they have announced a new expansion.
If you haven't played, you should (it's got superheroes)! It's lots of fun (2-5 players, sweet spot at 3-4 players) and takes about 45 minutes. And TONS of replayability.
2 of my friends have the game, but I'm still getting the full set myself. If only to make sure I can drag around my own copy of the game.

ETA: and we are closing in on the final day. If you like co-operative card games, or deck based strategy games, and have $50 to spare, I think it's totally worth it.
The big stretch rewards so far (an extra hero, villain, and environment) are totally worth the $10 they charge for shipping.

3D Printing Get-one-Give-one

KickStarter for a new, smaller, portable version of the PrintrBot 3D printer.  The higher donation level is for two units, with the hope that you might donate the 2nd one to a local school.  I'm not sure of the timing on this -- most people I know are strapped due to Christmas shopping.

Saw a link to this on rpg.net:

I'm not familiar with the setting, but it looks pretty cool. (Plus I've got a soft spot for book-wielders.) They're getting pretty close the end and still a bit short though...

Anima is also a minis game and an RPG. The minis are freakin' gorgeous. And expensive, they run about $10-12 each, minimum. It's a very anime-esque anachronistic-medieval sort of world.
