Fred Phelps Dead
Fred Phelps Dead
#1
Normally I'd say something like Rest in Peace, but no. Not this time.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I won't hold a party or anything. I wouldn't take the trouble to even piss on his grave. But I will smile. Oh yes I will.

After that, he gets nothing from me. No more thought, no more remembrance. I won't bother to hate, because that would bring me down to his and his insane family's level.

It is my sincere wish that the rest of the world handles with quiet dignity and restraint and no one shows up to his funeral.
Well except for him, obviously.

I'd personally love to see a crowd at his funeral holding up signs reading "God Hates Freds".

I have to agree with Bob here. Phelps made it quite clear what he considers to be appropriate behaviour at funerals; to deny his funeral the same behaviour would be rude.

Except the cowards aren't going to HAVE a funeral for him.

Of course not. They're bigoted, not stupid. My advice:  Ignore it. Fred Phelps likely died quite content in the assurance that he was going to Heaven, and there's nothing any of us can do about that. Leave it to the Almighty, if He exists. Concern yourself with the rest of the Westboro Congregation, and hope that, now that their spiritual leader has passed on, they'll fragment and fall apart like an arch without a keystone.

The sad thing is that before he became a preacher he was a civil rights lawyer. That he turned into a bigot mystifies me. What does sadden me is that he infected the younger generation with his hate. It is up to God now to determine his fate.

Perhaps he saw the money, drunk the bad kool-aid, was supposed to be undercover and went native etc. We certainly know he appeared to have become a radicalised Christian.

Meh, well if they didn't give him a funeral, then their treatment of the body better have been something other than a coffin burial. For certain groups will now doubt have a plan for it, that would be rather stomach turning. Mine, if I'd the resources is either rocket launch it into the sun, or into a high level nuclear waste facility.

According to the BBC article about him, he was always obsessed with sexuality, even when he was involved in civil rights.
