RWBY Volume 3

And going by this weeks Red Vs Blue, RTs animation team and equipment are better than ever. Good sign for RWBY.

RvB uses a different hardware platform (Xbox running Halo) than RWBY does (PCs running Poser).

Actually, as I recall, RWBY's moved off of Poser as of V3. I don't remember the package they're using, but I do know that they spoke about the changeover in the director's commentary on V3.

I'll have to pick up a copy of the disc, then.

(Could be 3DStudio, Maya, Daz Studio, ... or something else.)

Red vs Blue's had fully animated scenes for about six seasons. It's what they originally hired Monty for, after all. But this week's episode was entirely animation, using completely original resources, and no machinima. Hence why I brought it up, as it's a good sign of what RT's animation department is capable of now.

Just a thought, but with Volume 4 now with a set release date and the topic drifting that direction more and more, perhaps we should start a RWBY Volume 4 thread?

Sure, why not?

Well, before we get the new thread, Grimm Eclipse has now officially launched out of Early Access.

Could we keep RWBY Chibi here, so they're all in one place?

I'll just note that the Australian screening listing on Tugg for Vol.2 is so much lower then for vol. 1. Enough, that to see it I'm now heading into the CBD, as trying to reach Fountain Gate SC by 6....say hello to Melbourne's version of The 405 (or is it The 101?)

Nora, please, Ren is well aware of your feelings, but unlike you is rather more reticent and cautious.

Crossover speculation incoming:
My current theory is that RWBY is set soon after the fall of the Moon Kingdom, maybe 500-1000 ASM.  That the people of Remnant are a civilization once proud and spacefaring, but now clinging to survival on the lone planet left to inhabitable.  The grimm are spirits of the youma, who, without leadership, bound themselves into wild animals and are fed by primal fears.
The four Maidens are well, any set of 4 senshi, as they reincarnate.  Let's go with Juno, Ceres, Vesta, and Pallas, because they're mostly seasonal deities right?  Juno of youth is spring, Ceres of growth is summer, Vesta of fire is autumn, and Pallas the pallid ice maiden is winter.*  And that one Atlas device actually extracts a star seed (BSSM canon!) and puts it in another person.
Much of the lore of the senshi has already been lost, not in small part due to the events before and after the end of the Silver Millennium.  The four kingdom-cities are the remnants of the domains of Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoicite, and Kunzite, though few people would still know that fact in the age of RWBY.
The kind of downside of this backstory -- assuming the Remnant is Earth -- is knowing that all civilization will fall, no matter what our heroes do.  But it also means that we know that they must have succeeded, because they were so deeply ingrained in our culture that we still tell stories about them today.  So even if there aren't any descendants of planet Mau roaming around today, we still remember Blake.
Also corgis have existed for thousands of years.  Considering their pedigree, do NOT mess with Queen Elizabeth's corgis.
* Yes I know pallidus is not etymologically related to "?a????", I'm stretching it for the story.

It's still recorded off someone's phone, but here's the RTX teaser clip at a proper resolution. Please collect your jaws from where they land.

Hmmm, is it just me or are the RWBY chibi shorts getting less funny compared to earlier ones?

Varies a lot on a short by short basis. The art class still cracks me up.
