Who Ya Gonna... Pass on the Road?

So, late this afternoon, Peggy and I took a run down to Seaside Heights for dinner and to walk the boardwalk.  We'd barely gotten a couple miles away from the house when we spotted something odd on Route 18...
What's that, up ahead?

Nah, that can't be...

As it turns out, there was a "Monsters and Robots" convention this weekend over at the Garden State Exhibition Center a couple miles from us in the other direction, and if I had to guess, Ecto-1 was coming from an appearance there.
Still, a bit of a surprise to run into it with no warning on your local highway...

Whoa...! Who are you going to call, eh?!
Canadian lighthouse to U.S. Warship approaching it:  "This is a lighthouse.  Your call!"

Weirdest thing, it didn't get on the Turnpike and head north to NYC like I thought it might, but stayed on 18S, heading toward the north end of the Jersey Shore. I wonder if they have a warehouse or something down there somewhere for props and stuff.

Either that, or you ran into a local prop replica having had made an appearance at the same convention. They've gotten to the point that, if the subject is interesting enough, people can work pretty fast. Also, if it were the real film used prop, my expectation is it would have been on a flatbed or in an actual trailer like they use to transport race cars and the attached portable workshop.

Ooh, I hadn't thought of that. You're probably right.

Pensacola comicon was last weekend down here (used to be ParaCon) and they had a Mystery Machine and one of the Jurrasic Park SUVs. It's a small con but it's growing. Our local late summer con to FandomCon in November or PensaCon in February

I had my own Ecto-1 sighting on Halloween. Unfortunately, I was on foot, and by the time I got my cell phone camera out, it was gone. Pretty sure it was someone's recreation. I can't imagine what the original would be doing in South Philly.
