		RWBY Volume 4

		10-02-2016, 07:17 PM

In preparation for the official release of the RWBY Volume 4 trailer tomorrow, I figured I'd start the thread for it today.
As thread tax, I'm posting links to some official(?) trailer/volume 4 art. Warning: I couldn't find a full set on any safe site immediately, so the site these come from is NSFW. ESPECIALLY the ads used by the site.
REPEAT: Pictures are OK but Site and especially Adverts are Not Safe For Work!!!! .

Well, it's just what got shown at RTX... but finally seeing it directly as opposed to a blurry phone vid is just... wow. The new level of animation and detail is amazing. That shot of the moon at the end, for one... and the new "smoky" texture and glowing eyes of the Grimm. I can barely wait the remaining three weeks.-- Bob

I'm not surprised that the animation effects are better, now that they're using something more powerful than Poser. (Honestly, Poser and Daz Studio are entry-level programs for this sort of thing.) What caught my eye was the detail of the fire effects.--

Holy crap, the lighting. And the shadows. And Ruby's hair. And her face. She has actual lips now! I'd seen the version at RTX, but that was incomplete, and recorded on a phone. This is freaking awesome.
Also, watch the version on Youtube, with subtitles. Much like with Chibi, they are made of awesome and snark.

*WOOSHY WOOSHY ROSES*  Yup, added Unsound Effect trope. Also that video is significantly better without the guy in the stupid hat blocking the frame.  And with the HD and all.  Does Ruby look a bit more mature, or have I been watching too much RWBY Chibi?

One can finally see a family resemblance between Ruby and Yang, yes.--

As I said, one can finally see a family resemblance between Ruby and Yang. They weren't as similar in season 1 as they are now.--

Ruby at 15 is a kid. Ruby at 16-almost-17 is a young woman. Put them next to each other and you'll see the difference.
I get the feeling she's taller, too. Poor Weiss. Ruby already was taller than her when she wasn't wearing those high-heeled boots; now she's going to positively tower over Weiss.

Dunno, Bob. In that one snip we saw Weiss at about 4:50, she looked like she's grown a bit herself. Heck, even Blake looked a bit more grown up, too.

Man, most of the cooler parts of the subtitles were removed. Boo.
As for Ruby looking more mature, she's at a critical age for that sort of thing, and the improved detail of the animation and her outfit certainly helps. Although I remain hopeful that Weiss only gets a bit more refined. Having Ruby outgrow her in all ways is far too amusing an idea.

		"I tried to warn him."
So, Rooster Teeth had a special poster for NYCC, and it shows off the rest of RNJRs design changes. None of them have had extensive changes, more minor tweaking. Nora has a jacket, Ren's let his hair grow out... and Jaune has a familiar red cloth belt
