Apparently RWBY Chibi volume 2 episode 24 was sneakily released in December (much like their delayed Thanksgiving release of ep23)

Quite possibly. I haven't read a lot of Pterry personally (the stories are good but his writing style rubs me wrong somehow) but it's certainly his sort of humor. I just picked it up from the internet.
