COVID-19 Check-in Thread
03-24-2020, 06:34 AM
This is a thread for folks who aren't regular contributors to the boards to simply post "I'm still fine" messages so we know not to worry more than usual about you.
It's probably best to post once every week or so if you're going to post at all. If you do start posting, please don't stop adding regular updates until the pandemic breaks and ebbs, or we're going to get seriously worried about you, and you may find someone who knows someone who frequents the boards knocking on your door to make sure you're okay. (Yes, I know I don't know who most of you are in the real world. It's still surprisingly possible if one is motivated.)
So. As board admin/owner, I'll start the thread with an example. Peggy and I are okay, and you can take my continued activity elsewhere on the board as my future updates.

Currently in my assisted living home relaxing on the computer and catching up on sleep.

Alive and "working" from home.
I do have a mild cold that I've had for some time (weeks). I don't think it matches the descriptions I've heard, but it's slightly worrying and tends to put other people off.

Alive, and frustrated. I'm on ODSP, and had just gotten registered with a specialist who's good at helping people on ODSP find work. Then this happened.
I can't win. Even when all my ducks are in a row, nature conspires to keep me stuck at home.
Anyway, I divide my time with Destiny 2, Warframe, and pacing the apartment like a caged ferret, especially now that Ontario has gone into full lockdown.

I've actually been out more often than usual, getting the biweekly grocery run, due to Dad being eightymumble and having COPD already leaving him short of breath. No symptoms other than the usual post-nasal drip cough that only clears up from June to September anyway, in a good year. I don't think I'm too likely to go on one of my "start obsessing about something and vanish for a month or two" kicks, so you can probably expect I'll find something to make an allegedly humorous quip about here and there relatively regularly.

Still here, working from home, trying to get more minis painted.

That's arguably a more accurate description of my situation, since a lot of my work is hardware maintenance and local user support. They've put me in the call support queue, but it's not exactly hopping.

Just another day here for me, as someone who's already housebound due to medical issues the current situation reaaaly isn't changing up my lifestyle any so i'm doin fine as can be. I don't post mainly cause I don't have much to say and I keep myself occupied with CoH, Warframe, Diablo III, Wow and whatever other indie game might catch my eye. OH yeah also lurkin on FFnet for anything that might catch my fancy to read.

Here and still working. At least, until the hotel shuts down. (Unlikely, since its where the USAF is stashing its quarantine people for now.)

I am doing fine. Been working from home since 3/13 (first time in my life to do that.) Actually had to visit the office this morning to bring more equipment home. My team develops and maintains the software for my company's data collection terminals.
I will try to remember to update weekly.

I'm okay, except for the head cold from hell. I'm still going to work, and that's not likely to change. It's a little hard to merchandise product from home. I'll try to remember to post here every week or so.

Still here and working, but I'm (apparently) in a critical industry (telecoms) so I'm headed into the office everyday as the office-sitter and on-site network fixer. That just means I'm alone in the office where pretty much everything else around is shut.
Everybody ELSE is working from home.
I'll try to remember to post regularly so nobody gets antsy.

Home from work my two hours early. Still fine here, for a given value of fine. Watching Adam Savage's current livestream right now, probably going to assess the paint queue either tonight or tomorrow night so that I can clear that out before moving more kits out of the stash and onto the bench.

Alive, well, and of normal size. Going back and forth between the apartment where my parents live and the townhouse on which their name still is, with occasional necessary side-trips for medical appointments and/or grocery shopping.

Still alive. I'm a recluse anyway, so "shelter in place" isn't a great hardship for me.

I'm alive and thinking I need something like this for my nearest kin. It'll probably be something like a broadcast email. My mom, sister, and I all live hours apart, and there's a paternal aunt that we keep in regular contact with who isn't particularly near any of us.
If anyone has any suggestions for an alternative to the aforementioned broadcast email, I'd love to find out about it.

Funny story. Was suppose to go on 2 weeks holidays just before this thing hit Aussie land. Discussed it with family and then talked to agent we booked the holiday house with. We postponed it until later in the year without penalty. Since then I've never been busier. So much for having a break and staying at home. Maybe next week I'll actually have a day where I don't have to send most of the day running around doing things....
Ahem...
Alive and kicking here in Tropical Queensland. Where do I go to redeem a battered lurkers card?

If everybody in the group has a smartphone, you should be able to set up a group text-message chat. I have one with both iPhone and Android participants in my family.
