Images 17: Septomis Prime!

Who are these men, and why are their hats so awesome?

Also, that last one is totally me. And also leaves out that it's a third person following perspective so it doesn't matter if I add a helmet, all I ever see is the back of the hair and maybe an ear if the camera is slow when I turn a corner.

Third person following perspective?

You sure you see anything with these yutzes and their awesome hats?

(Yes, I know you are referring to a picture you didn't quote)

We have an image thread in the politics subforum.

Perhaps we should be posting memes and such with political hot takes there instead of here, and save this thread for images that are actually funny, gorgeous, WTF!? or just plain cool looking.

I second that notion.

One last quasi-political.

For the 15th time, Mayo have lost an All-Ireland Final. Nobody has lost more finals than Mayo.

I love the smell of rotaries in the morning. You know one time, I got to work early, before the rush hour. I walked through the empty carpark, I didn't see one bloody Prius or Golf. And that smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole carpark, smelled like.... ....speed.

One day they're going to ban them.

These are the Pharisees and the priests of the Temple in the 1973 film version of Jesus Christ Superstar.  The whole joke works from knowing that the final line is actually comes from the song "This Jesus Must Die" -- which is the source of these stills.

The guys with the 'awesome hats' are the Hebrew religious/political leaders from Jesus Christ Superstar, the ones feeling threatened by Jesus' teachings/growing flock

Even Cmdr. Hadfield thinks Japanese spacecraft are cute.

Here's the tweet he retweeted that proves it.

I'd be interested in the difference in scores observed with the chocolates - I do remember reading that each hour of missed sleep cramming the night before a test tended to show a loss of 5%, which aligned with my own anecdotal experience that the best test prep was to keep up with the reading all along and get a good night's sleep.

My response to this, pasted from FB:

Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, published author, and a man who BELIEVES in truth, justice, and the American Way. And knows what it means.

And the fastest typist Perry White ever saw. Now, I started that as a joke, but think about it. Touch-typing is a learned skill. Clark could use his super-speed to hunt and peck, but that would be obvious and give away his identity. Clark learned how to touch-type, and is disciplined enough to use JUST ENOUGH super-speed to be "the fastest typist" without giving it away. To say nothing of keeping his touch light enough to not hammer the keys (because EVERYONE does that when typing in a hurry) because if he did, he'd smash his desk through the floor. So he's trained, disciplined, and self-aware, all while listening for cries for help with his super-hearing, which shows he's not self-absorbed.

Guys wish they were Clark Kent.

Guys wish they were Clark Kent.

I really hate seeing posts like that because these people don't understand the double standard they're setting.  That, or they do, and they just think they're somehow flying under the radar.

Thing is, if you want Clark Kent, then you're gonna have to get Superman as well.  You can't separate Clark Kent from Superman.  They're the same person, only wearing different masks at different times.  And if you're with Clark Kent?  That mask is never gonna come off in your presence.

Saying you want "Clark Kent" is saying you want "A guy who has a secret life that he keeps me out of."  Because of this, the relationship would just fall apart.

I have never compared myself to Clark Kent.  Instead, I'm the guy a few cubes over, working his ass off to keep his job because he's getting overshadowed by the dynamic duo because Lois is just that damn good (and practically fearless), and Clark has the inside angle.  I don't even compare myself to Jimmy Olsen, because then that'd imply I got Supes around to pull my ass out of the fire whenever I need it.

So yeah, no, you don't actually want just Clark Kent, you really want Superman and Clark Kent.

TL;DR: They're basically saying that they don't want a perfect man.... while using the example of a perfect man and then going a step further by saying none of us can compare to their "Ideal Imperfect Man".  Bitch, please, you're so transparent that I can shine a light through you.

Sorry.  Shit just hacks me off.

I ought to get a few shirts and hoodies that say, "I have ADHD+ASD+APD+DSPD+Anxiety and Depression.  What's your excuse?"

So maybe, just maybe, the takeaway from the original comment is "look past the surface and get to know the real person".

Just saying it's possible.

And this is post #300. Time for a new thread. EDIT: New thread is new.
