More oddities spotted in the news
RE: More oddities spotted in the news
Remote control for Bridge was lost for years

7 years ago now. They've probably lost it again.

I love the smell of rotaries in the morning. You know one time, I got to work early, before the rush hour. I walked through the empty carpark, I didn't see one bloody Prius or Golf. And that smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole carpark, smelled like.... ....speed.

One day they're going to ban them.

Shooting Rampage in Donegal earns man 8 year sentence

I suppose I should just say read it.

It's vaguely amusing and uniquely Irish

Loblaw Companies Ltd. is recalling PC brand Lemon & Ginger Sicilian Soda from the marketplace due to the possible presence of "extraneous" glass, says the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

The product recall isn't odd, but the wording of the reason is. How does one tell the difference between "extraneous" glass in a soda and the other sort of glass?

Hikers find rare WW II Canadian tank 'rusting peacefully' in English field

Quote:Jeff Noakes, a historian of the Second World War at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, studied the video. He confirmed it shows a rare Ram tank — specifically a Ram 2 from the middle of the production run that lasted from 1941 to 1943.

He said boxy fenders extending over the treads, details in the hull, and the presence of a machine-gun turret show it's a Ram, not the more common U.S. M3 tank.

Of course, none of the GnP school ships are based on the Canadian forces in WWII, are they?

Maple High School

Quote:The schoolship's name [and] appearance is unknown, however it was purchased as an incomplete vessel from the United Kingdom. One point of note about the schoolship is that [it] has the most natural, green environment aboard compared to other schoolships, with [Norway-themed] Viking Fisheries High School following closely behind.

"Head-on" Collision

Quote:Well, there's really no way to put this delicately. A Florida driver distracted by receiving intimate services from his passenger lost track of his surroundings and crashed head-on (it only gets worse from here, folks) into a FedEx delivery vehicle in Ft. Lauderdale on Thursday, resulting in "injuries to his private area," WPLG Local 10 reports.

... Neither occupant of the FedEx vehicle was injured; the only package harmed was the one being attentively gift-wrapped by the passenger of the SUV.

Commenters had lots of fun with this. One mentioned that it could become part of a Farmers Insurance ad ("We know a thing or two, because we've seen a thing or two."), saying,
Quote:Now THAT would be a really funny commercial! there is his stuff hanging on a plaque, and Jonathan Simmons says, "Yep, we covered that!" LOL
